Life & Work with Blessing Gooh Nkerbu of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blessing Gooh Nkerbu.

Hi Blessing Gooh, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Blessing Gooh, I am the Founder & Creative Director of Gooh Grandeur, a full-service fashion brand specializing in custom garments, creative direction, and design education.

Gooh Grandeur was started February 23.2022 originally as a fashion styling and creative initiative. I wanted a way to showcase my passion to others, so i started an instagram page. For about 9 months, I was posting personal styling boards that had different themes and styles. This helped push me out for others to see my work. I began styling for brand shoots, campaigns, personal styling for clients, and also doing a bit of creative direction. This was only the beginning.
Fast forward to late 2023, I had started my journey in sewing and producing custom clothing for others. I was soon given the opportunity to have my brand in its first fashion show. This would mark the very first show of the now 15+ shows that Gooh Grandeur has had the opportunity to be a part of.
From early 2024 up until Fall 2025, I worked heavily on my craft. I bettered my skill set in regards to fashion design, customer service, providing a quality experience, and ensuring my work is unique and consistent. I also took the steps to expand the services i offer by learning to produce all different types of clothing from Canadian tuxedos to graduation dresses.
In the last six months, I graduated college and was able to go all in on my business. I have seen tremendous growth not only in myself but my business and all that I can offer to clients. Not only do i create custom clothing for individuals, I do brand shoot/campaign styling, brand sample making, personal styling, custom designs, creative direction, and soon to be released hands-on sewing courses where I teach people all things fashion design. I am super excited to continue this journey and I am not despising the process. My main goal is continued growth for myself and for every client I come across, I hope to give you an experience that is worth returning to and making you feel the most beautiful & confident in what you put on. To get to where I know I am going, I know it takes time, effort, and patience. I believe I am still only at the beginning of all that God has in store for me. He who began a good work is surely to bring it to completion!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not always been a smooth road, but I will say the bumps in the road have always been learning experiences for me. Something I have dealt with a lot is overbooking myself, which has always led to me feeling burnt out and rethinking if this is really for me afterwards. I remember there was a time where I had booked over 10 clients in a single week. This was also the week of my birthday, very smart I know haha. The week started out great, I was very optimistic, but with school & organization stuff, there was no way i was going to be able to finish everything and it be at the upmost quality. I did not end up finishing everything and what I was able to finish was not at all at the quality standard I had set for myself. It would be nice to say that it was my first and last time doing that, however, it was not. But, I have since learned to set better boundaries and have disciplined myself to work smarter, more efficient, and to know my limits. This keeps me from constantly feeling exhausted and burnt out because of the lack of discipline to know when to say yes and when to say no. Being busy is not generally a bad thing, but it should not cost you your quality of work or life.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the founder and creative director of Gooh Grandeur, a full-service fashion brand specializing in custom garments, creative direction, and design education.

I produce custom clothing for clients. Everything is made in house, in my studio. I source all my own fabrics and materials, and I sew everything myself. I also am a stylist, I mainly have worked with brands, but I also do some personal client styling as well. Soon, I will be offering hands-on sewing & fashion design education classes where I will be teaching my students the ins and outs of sewing.

I am most proud of the ability to wear the pieces I make and to see other people in the pieces that I make. It’s a privilege for people to admire my work but to also want to wear and appreciate it is a feeling like no other.

Gooh Grandeur is set apart from other brands because of its ability to combine custom design, technical craftsmanship, and personalized styling into a full fashion experience for every client. We do everything from pattern making, construction, design, and styling. Every piece is made with intention and every client is apart of the creative process. This ensures original silhouettes, better fit, and more creative control compared to generic production.
There have been a lot of times when someone sees something on me or someone else and they know that I made it because of its look. I love my designs, and knowing the time, effort, and work that goes into making each and every piece is what sets me apart. My designs are truly like no other and I am so grateful to have the gifting of working with my hands.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The things I like the most about LA are the opportunities and entertainment/ experiences that LA has to offer. I think anyone that is ambitious and willing enough can go to LA and really make something of themselves.

The thing I like the least is the cost of living. As much as it could be a great place to live, the costs can definitely add up very quickly.
