Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Herrera.
Hi Mark, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began my career in the early 2000’s working in structural concrete alongside my brother-in-law and gradually grew my interest and knowledge of general construction. In 2016, I got married and moved to Burbank where I continued to manage construction projects throughout Los Angeles County. At the peak of my career, I managed ultra-high-end remodels and new construction projects, coordinating teams of architects, designers, and subcontractors on the most demanding and detail-oriented builds. Now, I’m bringing that level of expertise and professionalism into my own business, Dezmar Construction, dedicated to helping homeowners build out their dream projects.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing worthwhile comes easy. After working for several well-established construction companies, I struggled to decide whether I should continue my career working for a company or for myself. The truth is that there is a certain level of security that comes from working for a company, but in 2025 I took a leap of faith and started Dezmar Construction. Thanks to the support of my family, friends, and colleagues, I now have a trusted team of skilled professionals working several exciting projects, and also recently completed my first ADU.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Dezmar Construction is a general construction company, owned and operated by my wife and I. Additionally, we have a team of sub-contractors that help us beautifully execute the vision of each project. We specialize in kitchen and bathroom remodels, new builds, and ADU’s. Our mission is to guide and empower homeowners throughout the construction process, helping them maximize their spaces. I firmly believe that this approach to the construction process – guidance, communication, and transparency – is what sets us apart from others. I am extremely proud of the feedback I receive from clients and the spaces we’ve built so far.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I am extremely grateful for the clients we have worked with so far. Without their trust and referrals, I would not have a business to run. I am also grateful for the mentors that have guided me from a young age. My dad and uncles showed me how to build a business and lead by example. My brother-in-law gave me my first job and eventually included me on his contractors license, which then opened the door for me to get my own license. The team and network I have around me is invaluable and was built out of a mutual respect for the work we do in this industry. Lastly, my biggest cheerleaders are my wife and daughters who inspire me to step outside of my comfort zone and give my best everyday.
