Check Out Olivia HP’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia HP.

Hi Olivia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I got into electronic music in middle school. My older sister was always on music blogs showing me stuff and rap and electronic music was what I gravitated towards. I would make experimental electronic music from field recordings and samples I’d make or find, and then went through phases of making beats and dance music. I’ve been feeling more in touch with the experimental part of my practice lately, and less focused on making structured songs.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The struggle has been more of an internal one. The challenge to continuously make things that I like, and have the energy to refine my craft. I mostly make music by myself, so sometimes remembering to go out and see what my musical friends are up to is important. That and taking care of my health, knowing when to rest and when to work.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I think I’m known more as a producer than a DJ, and the Playboi Carti remix I released last year got a lot of positive buzz. It was really cool hearing it played out at party’s and on radio shows. I’ve always had my own style, and I have every intention of staying true to my taste as I get older and my practice develops.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I plan on releasing more music this year.
