Exploring Life & Business with Dr. Tatyana Steele-Hall of T.A.M.E. TIME

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Tatyana Steele-Hall.

Dr. Tatyana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I didn’t come into medicine in a conventional way—it began with a deeply personal turning point that ultimately reshaped the direction of my life.

My stepfather, who I was extremely close to, was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. At the time, we were told to focus on comfort. That answer didn’t resonate with me. I remember sitting in the aisle of Barnes & Noble, reading everything I could find on cancer, nutrition, and the body’s capacity to heal. In that moment, something shifted—I realized there had to be more we could do to support the body beyond what we were being told.

I began preparing his meals during his recovery, focusing on nourishment that could support healing. For a period of time, you wouldn’t have known he was ill. When the cancer eventually returned, he made the decision not to continue treatment, but by then, my path had already been set. He gave me his full encouragement to pursue a life centered around healing.

Around that same time, my maternal uncle was diagnosed with stage two liver cancer and passed shortly thereafter due to a heart attack. Experiencing both of these losses within a short period of time deepened my commitment to understanding the body in a more complete and meaningful way.

I transitioned from a background in business into holistic aesthetics, influenced in part by my Korean upbringing, where prevention and balance are foundational. From there, my education expanded intentionally—I became licensed in aesthetics and massage therapy while completing my undergraduate studies in complementary medicine, with a specialization in aromatherapy.

That foundation led me into advanced clinical training, including a master’s degree in Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture, a doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, and later certification in Functional Medicine. While I deeply value traditional systems of medicine, I recognized a gap between philosophies and modern clinical application. I wanted to bridge that gap—combining time-tested principles with measurable, science-based approaches to create more precise and efficient outcomes.

Over the past decade, I’ve developed a highly individualized approach that integrates these disciplines. My work has always been rooted in the understanding that each person’s biology is unique—and that belief ultimately led me into the study of genetics and DNA-based health.

Today, my focus extends beyond clinical practice into building a platform that translates complex biological data into clear, actionable guidance. The goal is to bring a level of personalization traditionally reserved for one-on-one care into a more accessible and scalable model.

I don’t believe the goal is simply to extend life indefinitely. I believe the goal is to live well—at the highest possible level of function and quality for as long as we are here. Longevity, in that sense, becomes a natural extension of how well we care for the body along the way.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a linear path, but I’ve come to understand that building something meaningful rarely is.

Early in my career, one of the more defining challenges was choosing a direction that didn’t align with conventional models. I was drawn to a more personalized, root-cause approach, which meant not only developing clinical expertise, but also guiding patients to think differently about their health in a system that tends to favor standardization.

There’s a level of responsibility that comes with that—because when you step outside of established frameworks, you have to be certain in your reasoning, your results, and your ability to lead others through a different way of thinking.

As my work evolved, so did the nature of the challenge. I began to see the limitations of delivering this level of care exclusively in a one-on-one setting. While the results were meaningful, access was limited. That raised a much larger question for me: how do you scale true personalization without diluting its integrity?

That question is what led me into building a platform—something designed to translate complex biological data into clear, usable guidance at scale. Entering the technology space within healthcare introduced an entirely new layer of complexity—data, compliance, infrastructure—but more importantly, the responsibility of ensuring that what is created remains clinically sound and truly beneficial in real life.

There’s also an internal side to growth that isn’t always spoken about. Coming from a clinical background, you’re trained to refine, perfect, and validate before presenting something forward. Building something new requires a different mindset—being able to move with clarity and conviction, even when everything isn’t fully complete.

What I’ve come to recognize is that these challenges are not obstacles in the traditional sense—they’re indicators that you’re operating beyond existing systems. And when you’re building at that level, adaptability, precision, and vision all have to exist at the same time.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
T.A.M.E. TIME is a personalized health practice built on the understanding that no two individuals share the same biology—and therefore should not share the same approach to care.

I practice functional medicine, working closely with patients through advanced lab testing, genetics, and comprehensive analysis to develop highly individualized protocols. My areas of focus include gut health, hormones, inflammation, detoxification, and overall metabolic function, with an emphasis on identifying and addressing root cause rather than managing symptoms.

What sets my work apart is the level of precision and personalization. Every aspect of care—nutrition, supplementation, lifestyle, and long-term strategy—is tailored to the individual. There is no templated approach. My background allows me to integrate multiple disciplines, including functional medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, and a deeper understanding of the body’s systemic and energetic balance.

Over time, this approach has consistently produced meaningful results, but it also highlighted a limitation: this level of care has traditionally been confined to a one-on-one clinical setting.

That realization naturally led to the next evolution of my work.

I am currently developing a DNA-based platform designed to translate complex biological and genetic data into clear, actionable guidance for everyday life. The intention is not to replace clinical care, but to extend it—making personalized health insights more accessible while maintaining the integrity of individualized medicine.

Ultimately, my work is centered around helping people understand how their body functions on an individual level—so they can support their health proactively, rather than reactively, over time.

You can’t stop time—but you can learn how to work with your body to move through it with greater intention and vitality.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
There are a few ways people can work with me, depending on the level of personalization they’re looking for.

I work directly with patients through my functional medicine practice, where we take a comprehensive, individualized approach using advanced testing, genetics, and tailored protocols designed around each person’s unique biology.

For those seeking a more accessible entry point, I am currently developing a DNA-based platform that will allow individuals to gain personalized health insights in a more scalable format, while still maintaining the integrity of individualized care.

I’m also open to collaborating with like-minded practitioners and professionals who share a vision for the future of personalized, integrative medicine. As healthcare continues to evolve, I believe collaboration across disciplines will be essential in creating more effective and sustainable models of care.

At the core of everything I do is a commitment to helping individuals better understand their bodies—so they can make informed, proactive decisions about their health over time, and ultimately shift the conversation from reactive and generalized to proactive, personalized, and sustainable.
