Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Christy.
Hi Danielle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My love for cooking started early, inspired by time spent in the kitchen with my mom and grandma. I remember always mashing potatoes and picking vegetables in my grandma’s garden. Those simple moments shaped the way I see food today: not just as fuel, but as connection.
My journey with food hasn’t always been simple. I’ve battled anorexia since I was nine years old. So my relationship with food has been complicated. I know what’s it’s like to fear foods, be starving and just white knuckle life. I’ve been to treatment twice and thankfully my last treatment in 2022 recovery is finally sticking. After going through my own eating disorder recovery, I learned firsthand how powerful it can be to rebuild a healthy, trusting relationship with food and with your body. That experience now fuels the work I do — helping others approach cooking and nourishment from a place of care instead of pressure.
I haven’t always been in the kitchen my degree is in hospitality I worked in luxury hotels for a decade. While I loved it so much I still had something telling me cooking for others is my calling.
I believe cooking should feel welcoming, not overwhelming. Your kitchen doesn’t have to be perfect. Your meals don’t have to be complicated. What matters most is learning to listen to your body, enjoy the process, and create food that makes you feel good.
Society makes food such a complicated thing where it’s really simple. If we nourish our bodies with foods that make us feel our best we can live our best lives. Currently I am so grateful for my clients and work I do but still struggle with relationships, connection and just figuring out who I am with out my eating disorder. As it has been an identity I’ve attached myself to most my life. I’m learning to take each day as it comes be more curious and serve more then internalize.
