Hi Steph Kim-Hoffman and David, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! We’re Steph and David, the founders of our mobile coffee cart called, Slow Beginnings Coffee!

Steph – I always had a passion for hospitality and dreamed of starting my own coffee shop here in my city, LA. With 6 years of speciality coffee experience, I knew I just had to start somewhere, which is where the idea of Slow Beginnings originated. David, always supportive, built me my first coffee cart by watching tutorials. I started as a pop up in our garage, and then more doors opened to bigger events such as weddings, corporate events, and baby showers, & more special gatherings all around LA, OC, and surrounding SoCal areas. When we got married, we merged our strengths and began see our little coffee cart business grow.

David – I’ve always had a love for coffee and when Steph brought the idea of starting a coffee cart to me, I joined her in dreaming of what we could create together. We met in 2019, with coffee being a huge part of our story, and we had collected many experiences and affinities for quality coffee experiences. We embody our brand of warmth, excellence, and taking a moment to slow down with a coffee to enjoy your morning before heading into the busy-ness of life. With this in mind, we’ve now been able to cater at amazing events all throughout Southern California, like weddings in Simi Valley and Escondido, corporate events in Brea and North Hollywood, retail activations in Costa Mesa and Long Beach, baby showers in Pasadena, birthday parties in Mid-City, and many more. It’s been a dream come true, and we’re just getting started.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of our biggest challenges is building a sense of community while running a mobile coffee cart all around Los Angeles and Orange County, since we move between locations for each different catering event. Being in this coffee cart business for two years now, it is always exciting to see reoccurring clients book us for their events. We are excited for the day that we have a more permanent residency so we can grow our community!

Slow Beginnings Coffee is an elevated coffee cart service that aims to serve high quality and unique drinks paired with warm hospitality. We cater at gatherings, celebrations, and corporate events in LA, OC, IE and greater Los Angeles area.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
For those starting out, we would highly recommend working at a coffee shop and getting hands on experience at a specialty coffee shop to understand dialing in espresso, efficient bar flow, and working equipment. Also, we would recommend investing in higher quality equipment – it will save you in the long run!
