Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Moreno Erdogan.
Hi Amanda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in East LA in a Mexican American family of 6 kids…
I’ve been baking nearly my whole life, but professionally for the last 19 years after leaving the Fashion Industry. I’ve had the chance to bake for some pretty amazing people- Barbara Walters, Shakira, Chris Martin, Bette Midler, Bill Clinton to name a few.
Living in Rome, Istanbul and New York City has fueled my passion for delicious cuisines from around the world, and especially all the amazing and beautiful desserts. Having a never-ending sweet tooth doesn’t hurt either…….I lived in NYC for over 13 years. I first went to finish university at the Fashion Institute of Technology and did studies in International business in fashion in Rome. My love of the pastry arts was really ignited while living in Rome and trying all the beautiful desserts there. Once back to NYC, I continued my fashion career interning and working with companies like Gucci, Diesel, DSquared, Hogan and Genera to name a few. But the food world kept calling my name and I went back to school at the French Culinary Institute in Soho, NYC. And upon graduation began an exciting career as an intern, then pastry chef for some amazing restaurants, eventually becoming head Pastry Chef. My dad’s illness brought me back to my hometown of Los Angeles and I began a family while still creating edible works of. art.
While living in Istanbul with my husband and two kids, there was a demand for international pastries like some of the American, Mexican and French desserts I had become known for and A Treat Life really took off from there…Once moving back to LA, I was able to transition the business to my hometown and it’s been a fun and wild ride. Serving my community has been a real gift.
A Treat Life Bakery has been a part of many countless celebrations and Ive been. honored to celebrate life’s important moments with many people. Each cake created is unique and made to order and I truly love working one on one with clients to find out exactly what they’re ooking for. From birthday cakes, tiered cakes and wedding cakes, I can’t wait to make your their events even sweeter!
At the end of the day, a treat can be something sweet or savory, healthy or indulgent as long as it makes you smile. These days I love adding in things on the lighter, slightly healthier side, but I truly believe it’s all about moderation and enjoying and celebrating all life’s moments big and small.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not a smooth road—and honestly, I wouldn’t trust it if it had been.
There have been seasons where things felt insane, where I questioned if it was worth it, where I wondered if I would ever be inspire again (after losing my dad,) or if I was burning out. Building something of your own comes with a lot of trial and error—figuring out what resonates, who your ideal client is, staying consistent while also enjoying new trends. There’s also the mental side… pushing through self-doubt, comparison, and the pressure to “have it all figured out.”
I’ve also had to learn how to balance a lot—multiple businesses, family, personal growth—and that doesn’t always look perfect. There were times I had to pivot, adjust my approach, or just keep showing up when it would’ve been easier to step back.
But every challenge taught me something. It built resilience, clarity, and confidence. And now I see those struggles as necessary—they’re the reason I can lead, connect, and help others do this in a real, sustainable way.
If anything, the road being imperfect is what made the outcome so much more meaningful.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a pastry chef and custom dessert artist, (as well as food stylist) specializing in elevated, artistic desserts that feel just as good as they look. My work blends clean, modern design with soft, feminine details—florals, texture, color, and a little bit of playfulness. I create everything from custom celebration cakes to decorated cookies and desserts that are really meant to be part of the overall experience, not just something sweet at the end.
What I’m known for is that balance between artistry and intention as well as elegance regardless of the theme… My designs are detailed but never overdone—they feel thoughtful, cohesive, and personal to each client. I also take a lot of pride in using really quality ingredients and creating desserts that actually taste as good as they photograph, which I think matters just as much if not more.
What I’m most proud of is how my work has evolved into something recognizable. People can usually tell when something is mine before I even say it, and that’s taken time, consistency, and a lot of refining behind the scenes.
What sets me apart is the combination of design, intention, and lifestyle. I’m not just creating desserts—I’m creating pieces that fit into a bigger aesthetic and moment. Whether it’s a celebration, a brand, or a table, I really think about how everything feels together. That attention to detail and the experience as a whole is what makes my work different.
What are your plans for the future?
Right now I’m really leaning into more intentional growth. I’ve been stepping into larger-scale events and custom work, which I’ve been loving—it allows me to be more creative and really focus on the experience as a whole. At the same time, I’ve taken a step back from pop-ups so I can protect my time and energy, and pour into the areas that feel the most aligned.
I’m also continuing to build alongside my wellness business, which has become such an important part of my life. Being able to support my community with both food and wellness, especially during the challenging times we’re facing, is something I don’t take lightly.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to expand creatively. I’ve been exploring more savory concepts and collaborative opportunities behind the scenes—nothing I’m fully announcing yet, but definitely something I’m inspired by and excited to grow into.
Overall, I’m really focused on building in a way that feels sustainable, impactful, and creatively fulfilling—and I think the next chapter is going to reflect that in a big way.
