Inspiring Conversations with Giana Vasconcellos of Giana Natalia V

Today we’d like to introduce you to Giana Vasconcellos.

Giana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out with a passion for both writing and women’s health. I wasn’t sure which capacity I wanted to be involved in when it came to women’s health and writing never felt real something I could pursue as a full career. It was almost as though writing and authorship was fantasy in another world so I dove headfirst into women’s health and research. I finished with my MPH and was involved in maternal child research.

I started to see patterns in data and maternal health outcomes that weren’t consistent with supporting and properly educating women during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. From there, I became certified as a childbirth educator and began teaching women birth education and how to have autonomous birth experiences that they are collaborators and leaders in.

After a years of teaching, I noticed another pattern. Expectant women and families in my classes were expressing similar concerns and fears of childbirth and entering new parenthood. They were afraid of the unknown, not trusting their bodies enough, and believing that if they prepared to much they’d be disappointed. My wheels started turning. I decided to pursue a certification in fertility awareness, not just so women could prevent or achieve pregnancy, but to remind them of the tools they already have to be body literate. Body literacy is the foundation from which I teach childbirth education, fertility awareness, and now my writing.

Making body literacy the foundation was the key for me to help women connect back their bodies, help them identify their values and boundaries so they could have a strong hinge point from which they make all of their women’s health decisions.

However, it occurred to me how fantastic it would be if providers could speak to their patient population with this type of language, cohesive, understanding, and positioning themselves as collaborators in their patients and clients health journey rather than the authority.

This lead me to bridging my business of women’s health education and love for writing. I started a writing business where writing and women’s health coexist.
I help female-owned clinical, health, and wellness practices translate evidence-based care into clear, compassionate content that builds trust, educates patients, and supports sustainable growth. I write blog articles, patient information they take home or can access from their patient portal, and educational material. I chose this writing path because women need more providers that are aware of their impact and how women can lean into choosing competent holistic care. I hope this also encourage more providers to take a holistic approach in individualized care.

Writing is apart of my mission in providing women with body literacy tools as the foundation of their health journey. I also write to create a deeper community of connection on Substack. It’s women’s health focused content from the point of view of storytelling and vitality as the goal than just health itself. This removed the goal of health as a metric and encouraging it to be more of a daily lifestyle to embody through micro habits, choices, and self awareness.

It took 15 years to realize I could make a small ripple effect in the landscape of women’s health with two things I love; writing and educational support .

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely challenges. More along the lines of self limiting beliefs and imposter syndrome. It also almost felt my worlds of writing and women’s and maternal health education were at odds, but I really was just needing the creativity to put them together.

I work from home and homeschool my two boys 10 and 5. This, I would consider the greatest challenge because I am constantly in multitask mode and often feel as though I need better systems in place. Right now, I’m using a version of the ivy lee method I modified for working moms with a goal of vitality to help put things into perspective which has been incredibly helpful. I’m a firm believer in rhythm over routine in this season of life and that method really helps me support that.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business is a creative business where I blend the art of writing and the art of women’s health education. I focus on that honor bodies, births, and businesses-copywriting and education resource for female-founded women’s health providers, clinicians, holistic practices, doulas, and educators. In addition, I teach 1:1 fertility awareness education and group childbirth classes (I do this privately and in hospital setting)

What sets my art apart is that it’s a cohesive approach. The foundation is body literacy and self awareness helping them build their core values and boundaries: rooting the education piece in that helps them have a deeper perspective and relate the education to them in an individualized way.

I am most proud of the fact that I’ve found a way to reach both clinicians serving women AND educating women on the other end of that. It’s the best of both worlds for me!

Readers can come to me for a few different things! Clinicians of all types, educators, doulas, midwifes, DOs, MDs, nutritional therapy practitioners, RDs, LMFTs, literally anyone wanting to meet their patients on a different level to build their practices community I can help with the writing content and educational materials etc. these all come in the form of packages that are individualized based on the practice, needs and goals.

Women can come to me for fertility awareness education, and childbirth education all rooted in body literacy, and self-awareness goals so they can experience a life of vitality.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?

I mean honestly, that highlights the stories of women otherwise known as wise women who have deeper or more expensive experience in certain areas of womanhood. It’s called The Wise Woman Chronicles. It’s largely inspired by the book called women who run with wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes.
