Rising Stars: Meet Roscoe Slim

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roscoe Slim.

Roscoe Slim

Hi Roscoe, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Was just a kid out of high school trying to find myself. Going through the motions that most people go through when you’re coming of age. Trial and error going job to job and leaving from college prematurely.

Went through some years as a teenager developing my hobbies in art. I’ve always liked music, film, fashion and illustration. Dabbled in a few different artistic mediums and ended up gravitating more towards music.

After gaining experience, making relationships and piecing together material that gave me inspiration. I decided to make something more out of my hobbies.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Haha, It wasn’t a smooth road at all. But to be fair anything worth it in life isn’t going to come easy. I understand that now.

After struggling with financial and housing insecurities. I was going through trials and tribulations of self discovery and interest. But through the pressures of the past I’ve been able to get to this point of confidence and self efficacy and hopefully beyond.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve had my hand in the number of different genres and sub cultures such as R&B and hip-hop to electronic beats, all the way to like indie rock and post-hardcore. But recent projects have led me to pursue the singer/ songwriter role alongside producing.

I’m currently having an issue categorizing my material but in the soon future I’m looking forward to seeing what the audience would consider what I’ve been working on.

My music has touched an array of subject matters such as nostalgia, living in the moment, ambitions and relationships After time, just living life and accumulating experiences,

I’ve gotten to the point to where I want to put something out cohesive that truly fits my expression and can find those who it resonates with. I have my debut single after rebranding coming out titled “Still Here” available on all platforms.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Despite the state of the world and whatnot I’d like to say I’m happy overall. I’ve learned to really love and appreciate the small things. Waking up in the morning and having my family, friends, love and support.

What brings me a smile is hearing a good song or trying a new great dish for the first time.

I’ve realized after a while that life doesn’t come at me but from me. And in the same notion life doesn’t happen to you if you let it happen for you.
