Exploring Life & Business with Rene Farias of Rene Farias Agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rene Farias.

Hi Rene, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Sure. I come from a large family — 87 cousins. Family has always been at the center of my life. Many of us chose to serve our country in the U.S. Armed Forces, and that spirit of service shaped who I am.

I had the honor of serving in the U.S. Army Medical Corps for 8 years. Those years deeply impacted me. Caring for others during some of the most difficult moments of their lives taught me compassion, responsibility, and the importance of being prepared before a crisis strikes.

As my time in the service was coming to an end, I began reflecting on my next chapter. I knew one thing for certain: I still wanted to serve, and I still wanted to help people. The medical field had been my path, but I was open to where God — and life — might lead me next.

5 – 6 months before I departed from the military, I met a gentleman in the life insurance profession. We had long conversations about protection, legacy, and something I had never really thought about before — estate creation. As a father, those conversations hit home. The more I learned, the more I realized life insurance wasn’t just about death benefits. It was about love, responsibility, and making sure your family is protected no matter what.

We paused our discussions until my ETS (End of Term of Service) from the U.S. Army. But as soon as I was honorably discharged, I reached back out to the man who would become my mentor. He was with New York Life at the time and welcomed me with guidance and patience.

In October, during the year of my ETS, after training and preparation, I became licensed as a Life and Medical Insurance and Retirement Planning Advisor.

Looking back, I see that the mission never really changed. I moved from caring for people in uniform to caring for families through planning and protection. My heart has always been in service.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey in this profession has not always been smooth. The life insurance industry has evolved significantly over the years, and with that evolution have come changes — sometimes regulatory changes designed to protect families and carriers, and at other times new policy structures and enhancements meant to better serve clients.

Change can feel overwhelming, especially when it involves something as important as protecting your family’s future. That’s why I don’t take the responsibility lightly.

Staying current requires ongoing education, consistent training, and a willingness to keep learning.

Thankfully, I genuinely love learning. I believe it is my duty to remain informed so I can guide others with clarity and confidence.

As you know, we’re big fans of Rene Farias Agency. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
What should you know?
The Rene Farias Agency was built on one simple belief: people deserve to feel secure and understood when making life insurance and retirement decisions. We are an independent advisory, working with more than 50 insurance carriers, so we can focus on what’s best for you — not what’s best for one company.

Because of this flexibility, we are often able to help individuals with specialty risk — people who may have been declined or told “no” in the past. We approach every case with care, patience, and determination.

What do we specialize in / what are we known for?
We specialize in life insurance, long-term care planning, and retirement planning for families, mortgage holders (primary home or investment properties), and business owners of all types. Nearly half of the people we serve have previously been turned down — sometimes more than once.
We understand how discouraging that can feel. Our role is to look deeper, advocate on your behalf, and explore options that others may not have considered.

What sets us apart?
Education and guidance.

Insurance can feel overwhelming and confusing. My commitment is to slow the process down, explain your options clearly, and help you make decisions with confidence — not pressure. You deserve to understand what you’re putting in place for yourself, your family, and your business.

Why is that important?
Over the years, I’ve spoken with many people who weren’t sure what they were buying — or why. Life insurance can be simple protection, or it can be structured as a long-term asset. Without clarity, it’s easy to choose something that doesn’t truly fit your needs.

A strong foundation of understanding changes everything. It empowers you to plan wisely and protect intentionally.

What am I most proud of?
Helping people move from confusion to clarity — and especially helping those who thought coverage wasn’t possible for them.

There is nothing more meaningful than calling someone back and saying, “We found a solution.”

What I would like readers to know?
I offer a no-obligation consultation designed to educate — not to pressure. During this time, we can:
• Review your current coverage
• Identify any gaps or overlaps
• Explore new and potentially better options
• Discuss long-term care planning
• Explain living benefits in simple terms

Many people don’t realize that some life insurance policies include living benefits — meaning you may be able to access funds during a serious illness or injury. While health insurance may cover medical treatment, it doesn’t replace income or cover everyday expenses like mortgage, rent, or household bills. The right policy can provide support when it’s needed most, and protect your estate — while you’re still living.

If you’ve ever felt unsure about what you have, been declined in the past, or simply want a second opinion, I invite you to schedule a conversation. There’s no cost, no obligation — just clarity and guidance.

Because, as Benjamin Franklin wisely said,
“Most people don’t plan to fail; they fail to plan.”

Let’s make sure your plan truly protects the people you love.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people assume I’m an extrovert because of the work I do and how much I enjoy connecting with others. The truth is, I’m a blend of both introvert and extrovert.

I genuinely enjoy being around people — listening to their stories, learning about their families and businesses, and understanding what matters most to them. At the same time, I deeply value quiet moments alone. Those moments allow me to reflect, to journal, and to spend time studying the Word of God. That quiet space keeps me grounded, centered, and grateful.

That balance between connection and reflection is what allows me to show up fully for my family, my clients, and my community. It keeps my daily life healthy and intentional.

And on a lighter note — I love cooking. Actually, most people who know me already know that my culinary hobby is serious business. LOL – ok it’s not serious business, just fun. It’s one of the ways I express creativity and care for the people around me.

Life, to me, is about balance: service and stillness, planning and faith, work and joy. And I’m thankful for all of it.
