Hidden Gems: Meet Christina Jee of Nail Artistry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Jee.

Christina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I opened Nail Artistry with no clients, no existing reputation in the area, and very little knowledge of how to run a salon. At the time, I was a single mom trying to build something stable for my future and my daughter. I knew I wanted to create a space that felt elevated, intentional, and focused on quality rather than rushing clients in and out.
In the beginning, I made a lot of mistakes. Like many new salon owners, I had to learn the business side of the industry the hard way—systems, pricing, team management, and building a brand from the ground up. But those challenges forced me to become very process-driven and intentional about how the salon operates.
Over time, Nail Artistry evolved into a boutique, appointment-based salon specializing in structured gel manicures and long-lasting nail services. My focus has always been on healthy nails, meticulous technique, and creating a luxury experience that still feels welcoming.
Today, the salon is continuing to grow with a stronger focus on education, team development, and building systems that allow the business to scale beyond just me behind the chair. My goal has always been bigger than just doing nails—I want to build a brand that represents craftsmanship, consistency, and modern salon culture.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many first-time business owners, I went into opening a salon with passion for the craft but very little understanding of the operational side of running a business. Learning about systems, hiring, pricing, and profitability was a steep learning curve.
One of the biggest challenges was navigating partnerships and team dynamics early on. I quickly realized that building a successful business requires not only talent but also clear systems, accountability, and aligned leadership. Those early experiences forced me to step fully into the role of a business owner and take responsibility for the direction of the salon.
Another challenge has been building a brand and client base in a competitive area while staying committed to a higher standard of service. Instead of focusing on volume, I chose to position Nail Artistry around quality, healthy nail practices, and long-lasting results. That sometimes means educating clients about why our services are priced the way they are and why our process takes more time.
Looking back, those challenges shaped the way I run the salon today. They pushed me to build stronger systems, invest in team development, and focus on creating a brand that’s built for long-term growth rather than quick wins.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Nail Artistry is a boutique nail salon based in Fullerton, California focused on quality, healthy nails, and long-lasting manicures. Our specialty is structured gel manicures, a technique that strengthens the natural nail and helps manicures last three to four weeks without lifting or chipping. Instead of rushing through services, we focus on meticulous cuticle work, proper nail structure, and techniques that protect the natural nail.
What sets us apart is our philosophy that nail services should prioritize both beauty and nail health. Many traditional salons focus on speed and volume, but at Nail Artistry we focus on precision, education, and consistency. Every service follows a structured process designed to deliver long-lasting results while maintaining the integrity of the natural nail.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the culture and standards we’re building within the salon. Our goal is to create an environment where both clients and technicians value craftsmanship and attention to detail. We are building systems and training methods so that every service delivered at Nail Artistry meets the same high standard.
Ultimately, Nail Artistry isn’t just about getting your nails done—it’s about creating a thoughtful experience where clients feel confident that their nails are being cared for by professionals who prioritize quality and long-term results.

What does success mean to you?
For me, success is about building something sustainable that creates opportunities not just for myself, but for the people around me. As a salon owner, that means creating a business where my team can grow professionally, where clients trust the quality of our work, and where the brand stands for something meaningful in the industry.
Early on, success felt like simply surviving—keeping the doors open, learning the business, and building a loyal client base from scratch. Over time my definition evolved. Now success is about building strong systems, developing a talented team, and creating a brand that can grow beyond just my own work behind the chair.
Personally, success also means having the freedom to spend time with my daughter and knowing that the business I’m building is creating a stable future for our family. At the end of the day, success to me is about growth, resilience, and building something that lasts.
