Hidden Gems: Meet Saul Salmeron of Restoring Vida Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Saul Salmeron.

Hi Saul, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Restoring Vida Therapy launched in January 2024, but the story behind it starts much earlier.
I grew up in Culver City, California, as the son of Mexican immigrants, and my life was shaped by existing between two worlds. Some summers we traveled to Mexico to visit family, and every school break was spent working alongside my parents, my father a gardener, my mother right beside him. Under the sun, doing hard physical work, they never stopped reminding us why education mattered. There was a saying they returned to often, especially on the hard days: “el papelito habla” the paper speaks. They meant the diploma. It was their way of reminding us that education was the door, and it was ours to open. Their grit and dignity quietly shaped the person and professional I would become.
That upbringing made two things clear: how much language and culture shape a person’s experience, and how much it matters to feel truly seen. Many bilingual and multicultural families were searching for therapy that reflected their lived experiences, and many talented therapists were burning out in systems that prioritized productivity over people. Restoring Vida was built to address both.
What began as a small launch has grown into a fully culturally responsive virtual therapy practice serving individuals, teens, couples, and families across California. Accepting insurance has been an important part of that growth, removing barriers and making quality care more reachable for the communities we serve. It is all rooted in the belief that good care should be accessible, culturally aware, and sustainable for the people providing it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like many clinicians, graduate school prepared me to provide therapy, not to build and lead a business. Learning how to market ethically, hire well, build systems, and think strategically has been one of the biggest growth areas.
Transitioning from a solo practice to building a team required trust and a new level of leadership. That shift stretched me as an owner and supervisor and ultimately strengthened the practice.
As a Mexican American founder, there is also a deeper responsibility in building something sustainable while representing communities that are often underrepresented in mental health leadership. That journey has required humility and resilience.
Balancing leadership while continuing to actively see clients has been another refining process. Holding space for individuals, couples, and families while guiding vision and supporting the team requires intentional rhythm.
There have also been thoughtful decisions around remaining fully virtual versus expanding into hybrid or in-person models, each with implications for accessibility and sustainability.
Overall, the experience has been a significant learning curve, and there were definitely moments of uncertainty. But working through those hurdles actually did us a favor; it pressure-tested our strategy and made us much more confident in our core mission.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Restoring Vida Therapy?
Restoring Vida Therapy is a fully virtual group psychotherapy practice serving individuals, teens, couples, and families throughout California. Our team of Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists and Clinical Social Workers provides culturally responsive, clinically grounded care across different stages of life, from adolescence through older adulthood.
We are especially known for serving bilingual and multicultural communities. Therapy in both English and Spanish is central to who we are. Language carries identity, family history, and emotion, and we understand how powerful it is when clients can express themselves without translating their experience.
We support clients navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relational conflict, and family dynamics. We also recognize that for many of the families we serve, spirituality and faith are meaningful parts of their story. When clients desire it, we thoughtfully integrate those values into the therapeutic process with respect and care.
What sets us apart is how we approach accessibility and sustainability. We partner with insurance providers to expand access to care, and our fully virtual model reduces barriers across the state. Internally, we are intentional about supporting our clinicians so they can provide consistent, high-quality care in a field where burnout is common.
Brand-wise, we are most proud of the culture we are building. “Vida” means life, and that value shapes how we lead, serve, and grow. Our goal is simple: provide therapy that is accessible, culturally aware, spiritually respectful, and rooted in integrity.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
