Today we’d like to introduce you to Jess Blaise.
Hi Jess, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a Los Angeles based creative producer who’s always been drawn to storytelling and to uplifting diverse voices. I see storytelling as one of the most democratized ways we share information and shape culture, and that belief has guided every step of my journey. With that in mind, I went to Carnegie Mellon for Entertainment Management, knowing I wanted to be a producer — just not in the traditional sense.
It’s been important for me to grow both the business and creative sides of what I do, while building a path that goes beyond film and television into digital, live events, and other emerging formats as the industry continues to evolve. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to work with major studios and production companies, while also producing independently and creating projects that reflect the kinds of stories and communities I care about.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No career is a straight line, and that’s especially true in entertainment. I’ve experienced moments of real momentum, followed by seasons that required me to pivot, reassess, or even scale back. Early on, it was surprising to realize how often you have to reintroduce yourself and reestablish your value, regardless of your education or past wins.
But in hindsight, that’s been the most transformative part of my journey. It forced me to sharpen my craft, strengthen my relationships, and, most importantly, push through self-doubt to find a more grounded confidence in who I am and what I bring to the table. Those transitions didn’t break me; they built range, resilience, and clarity of purpose.
So now I don’t see change as a setback, I see it as the constant that keeps you evolving. And in an industry that’s always shifting, that mindset becomes your greatest asset.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a creative producer, I have experience across development, production and marketing in television, digital, film, podcasts, and live performance. I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to projects with National Geographic, including film Inside the Internet: 50 Years of Life Online, as well as with PBS Digital Studios on series such as Say It Loud, Sound Field, and Be Smart. I’ve also worked with Will Packer Media on projects like Fight Night and The Lower Bottoms podcast, and I’m currently working at Lionsgate.
Independently, I’ve produced theater, including the play Show Up, and collaborated on commercial and branded content, which has allowed me to move fluidly between formats while staying rooted in story and audience.
What I specialize in is building meaningful, culture forward projects from the ground up: shaping ideas in development, supporting creative teams through production, and making sure the final work connects authentically with the communities it represents. I’m known for being both highly creative and deeply collaborative, someone who can hold the big vision while also managing the details that bring it to life.
One of the things I’m most proud of is being a co-founder of Haitian Spotlight LA, an initiative created to bring the Haitian and broader Afro-Caribbean community together through storytelling, events, and shared space. Being a part of building the organization reinforced my commitment to creating opportunities for underrepresented voices and to using entertainment as a tool for connection and visibility.
What makes you happy?
I’m happiest when my work, my relationships, and my sense of purpose are all in alignment. In my work, fulfillment comes from helping meaningful projects move forward, especially ones leave a cultural impact. I thrive in collaborative environments where there’s a real exchange of ideas and where my voice and taste contribute to something larger than me. Outside of work, joy for me is rooted in connection and shared experiences, celebrating milestones, being in community, and feeling that the energy I give is genuinely reciprocated. At the core, happiness for me is about forward motion, creative impact, and building a life that is both intentional and deeply felt.
