Jay, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi — I’m Jay, founder of Xplosion Box LLC. We are the only online retailer offering fully customized explosion gift boxes, designed, printed, and assembled for our customers.
The idea began about ten years ago, shortly after I got married. I wanted to create a truly meaningful birthday surprise for my husband, Vijay — something that felt priceless rather than purchased. I spent weeks gathering cardstock, origami paper, ribbons, and our favorite photos, and handcrafted an explosion box from scratch. It took nearly four full weeks to design and assemble, but when he opened it, his reaction was unforgettable. He told me it was the most thoughtful gift he had ever received.
That moment planted the seed for Xplosion Box. I realized many people want to give deeply personal, memory-filled gifts — but don’t have the time, crafting skills, or patience to make one themselves. I set out to solve that problem.
Today, XplosionBox.com allows customers to upload their own photos and messages through our online tools. We then professionally design, print, and assemble everything into a beautiful, ready-to-gift explosion box — so anyone can give a handmade-feeling keepsake without spending weeks crafting it.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road — and I don’t believe entrepreneurship ever truly is. Building and marketing a niche product like ours in the digital space has been especially challenging.
Over the last two years, we struggled with paid marketing and unfortunately experienced financial losses from advertising. As a small, growing business, that was difficult to navigate. However, those challenges taught us valuable lessons.
We have since shifted our focus toward organic growth and, most importantly, customer satisfaction. This has become our guiding principle — we truly believe our customers are our best advocates. We listen carefully to their feedback, continuously improve our product, and prioritize delivering a meaningful, high-quality gifting experience every time.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is rooted in my love for art.
As a child, I was deeply drawn to fine arts and always felt a strong creative pull toward colors, textures, and design. On my sixteenth birthday, I received a set of oil paints as a gift — and that moment changed everything for me. I remember spending 12 to 16 hours at a stretch painting, completely absorbed in the process of creating.
That experience shaped my creative journey and set the foundation for everything design-related in my life. Over time, my mind naturally began to notice the finer details in different art forms — composition, balance, texture, and storytelling through visuals. This trained my eye to be detail-oriented and thoughtful in every creative project I undertook.
In many ways, the explosion gift box is a reflection of all the fine arts I have learned and continue to refine. It brings together design, craftsmanship, storytelling, and emotion into one meaningful, tangible piece of art.
