Meet Vojislav Radovanovic of Mr. Voice Love in Redondo Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vojislav Radovanovic.

Vojislav, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always possessed a great interest in drawing and paintings, as a kid, I always held a pen or pencil in my hands and I was drawing all around the house. Everyone around me was totally convinced that I am going to be a painter. I grew up in Serbia, where the education system was so broad and I really didn’t want to learn anything else except art. In the end, I skipped finishing my last year high school and went right into college for the Academy of Fine Arts. I received a Bachelor and Master degree in Fine arts, so I better be an artist, because that’s all I know (well, maybe a few other things – wink, wink)!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have always had lucky enough to follow my passion. Of course, there were a lot of obstacles along the way, but I learned how to navigate through them and make them constructive and useful in my life. The biggest problem, which every artist faces at some point, is money, but I feel that my persistence and dedication to my work has led me to success.

Please tell us about Vojislav Radovanovic (Mr. Voice Love) painter.
A major theme in my work is weeds and how wild plants have fertility, strength and the ability to survive through adversity. There are a lot of metaphors to learn from them. No matter how often these inconvenient, untamed and unwanted plants have been destroyed, contaminated and burned, weeds continue to grow, triggered by their own will. Weed will always flourish! I perceive savage meadows in a poetic and symbolic way, depicting in the paint the amazing beauty of their diversity and triumph.

I also combine a bit of string theory in some of my works by using various geometric patterns, suggesting how everything is connected. I enjoy working in a lot of different scales – as large as a two-story building or as small as a seed, as well as use a variety of mediums and techniques. I have an extensive history of exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout Europe and in the short time, I’ve been living in Los Angeles. I’ve been featured on numerous shows. I also have a background in television, which I use documenting artists and their exhibitions and post on youtube under the channel L.A. Art Documents.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I have so many and still, inside, I feel as a child… so, I like living as an adventurer and I have new memories almost every day. Every day is the last day.
