Community Highlights: Meet Miranoush Davoodi of Aleva Studios

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranoush Davoodi.

Hi Miranoush, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey began when gyms reopened after the COVID lockdowns. Returning to a traditional gym didn’t feel right at the time, so I decided to try a modern, high-intensity Pilates studio within walking distance of my home. Although I had been following home workouts during lockdown and felt confident in my fitness, this experience was unlike anything I had tried before, challenging, humbling, and incredibly effective.

After attending hundreds of classes and seeing great physical results, I began to look at the experience more critically. While the workouts were strong, I noticed something consistently missing across studios I tried: a true sense of community. Many spaces lacked warmth, connection, and an environment where people felt genuinely welcome and supported.

That realization became the foundation for Aleva Studio. I wanted to build more than just a fitness space. I wanted to create a community-driven studio where movement, connection, and creativity coexist. From an entrepreneurial standpoint, this meant being intentional not only about the workouts, but about the experience, the culture, and the relationships we build with our members.

As a big fan of modern art, I also envisioned Aleva as a platform to support local creativity. We use the studio to showcase works by local LA artists, allowing the space to evolve and reflect the artistic energy of our community.

We actively host events and create opportunities for connection, and starting in 2026, we plan to expand collaborations with other local businesses to continue strengthening our presence in Burbank. Aleva welcomes everyone, regardless of where they are in their fitness journey, their background, or their gender.

The support we’ve received from the Burbank community since opening our doors has been incredibly affirming and has reinforced that we’re building something meaningful, sustainable, and rooted in genuine connection.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest challenges have been building something from the ground up while staying true to the vision. Entrepreneurship requires wearing many hats, making constant decisions, and learning as you go. There are moments of uncertainty, but every challenge has pushed me to grow as a leader and be more intentional about the culture and community we’re creating.

Looking back, those obstacles have been essential in shaping Aleva into the space it is today. One that’s built with purpose, resilience, and heart.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Aleva Pilates, our mission is to deliver high-intensity modern Pilates that pushes limits and delivers results. Every class is designed to build strength, improve endurance, and transform your body through precise, powerful movement. Led by expert instructors and fueled by energizing lights, our workouts go beyond exercise—they’re a catalyst for confidence and resilience.

What makes you happy?
What brings me the most happiness is seeing the impact Aleva has on people. When someone tells me that the studio helped them feel stronger, more confident, or that they finally feel like they belong somewhere, it reminds me exactly why I started this journey. Those moments of connection mean everything to me.

I also find a lot of joy in hosting events and seeing the community show up. Watching people connect, support one another, and fill the space with such positive energy is incredibly rewarding. It’s a beautiful reminder that Aleva is more than a studio; it’s a shared experience.
