Rising Stars: Meet Brent Weinbach of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brent Weinbach.

Hi Brent, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Once, I was a boy with two boils on my body. They were beacons from which scoundrels could feed. But eventually, I was completely drained of food juice and I was of no use any longer. I had to think of a new way to provide to the world. And then it hit me while watching an episode of Comic Strip Live on Fox, “I can be the next Bruce Baum.” That’s when I decided to become a stand-up comedian.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not so much a smooth road. Around the age of sixteen, I started having a lot of struggles on the toilet. But then I found non-dairy milk alternatives such as coconut milk and it changed my bottoms for life. You know what’s annoying though? Industry gate-keeper type people will like my comedy but think the rest of the country won’t get it, so they don’t give me opportunities. And yet, I perform all over and try to appeal to as broad a crowd as possible -and I do have success with widespread audiences and different demographics. So that’s been a struggle. The fear industry people have about losing their jobs and so they don’t have faith in anything they perceive to be too different.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Basically, I specialize in poo, penis, and Michael Jackson based humor. I’m most proud of a short film I made called “Squeeze,” which is about muscles and poo. I guess what sets me apart from others is that I don’t use the word “literally.” I hate that word because it’s pretentious and phony. That’s why I’m different. I just want to be the real me and not use trendy terms and phrases in order to sound cool.

How do you think about luck?
Well, one time, I played roulette and the ball landed on my number twice in a row. So I feel like luck played a big role in me winning that night. Luck is a big part of being successful. You definitely need to know the right people at the right time and in the right park bathroom at the right cross street and wearing the right kind of chaps and right kind of bolo tie and that sort of thing. But of course, you need the talent and skills to back up opportunities you might get through luck.
