Today we’d like to introduce you to Chase Cameron.
Hi Chase, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The initial “launch” into training and working with athletes started when I was in grad school at CSUF getting my Master’s in Kinesiology. I started a coaching internship with a company called Velocity Sports Performance, which then led to a part time coaching position, then ultimately becoming the Sports Performance Director of their Costa Mesa location. The company eventually transitioned to ProSport and I stayed in the SPD role for another few years. While there I collaborated with ProSports physical therapy staff and together we launched the “Return to Play’ bridge protocols from therapy back to performance.
Eventually, I knew I wanted to pursue my own path in this industry and left that role around 2016 and began subletting space as an independent contractor out of a few facilities, learning and growing my own name and brand. This led me to my final sublease spot with Elev8 Performance for 5 years where I rented out an upstairs space for my team and utilized there facility to train my members while launching our first online efforts.
However, the dream was eventually to get our own gym space, and that’s where we are today! I opened Chase Cameron Performance, Llc May 5th, 2025. CCP is a 2,500 square foot facility with the gym floor downstairs, a lobby area, and three upstairs rooms for office space, a recovery room with compression boots and sauna, and a physical therapy space sublet by our friends and colleagues of Ignite Phyzio.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There is no smooth road for a new business, at least not for me! Every day there are challenges both big and small. Taking on much more overhead is of course a big challenge. There is pressure to generate revenue to stay operable, but also making this a sustainable future of income. You wear a lot of hats early on including marketing, office management, facility maintenance, creating culture, coach, accounting, the list goes on. Systemizing these processes has been the priority and slowly we are stacking the pieces!
What helps keep me on track is my inner circle of friends, members, and business mentors who encourage, teach, and support me. This network of people and resources have ben invaluable for me to stay focused on the vision when I’m going through those tough days.
As you know, we’re big fans of Chase Cameron Performance, Llc. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a strength and fitness facility that works mostly with basketball athletes, centering around the high school game, but also work with middle school players and higher level college players. We offer class services and private training in house and have also launched our CCP Hoops app for high school basketball with my partner, Dr. Kyle Iguchi. We have a handful of schools using this app for their pre-season and in-season training where we instruct and guide them in their protocols to keep their bodies healthy and ready for play.
We are also launching our new adult program for recreation athletes, but is also great for anyone that wants to stay strong and healthy in their day to day life and as we age! This is a 3 day/week program that focuses on mobility, strength, and movement skill. This is a passionate project for me as I am now 40. My goal is to keep my body strong and available to continue to do the things in life that I enjoy, and I want to share that with people looking to enhance and maintain the physical qualities in their lives so that they can also continue to perform whatever it is that they enjoy in life!
How do you think about happiness?
Accomplishing goals that have been set has always played a part in my happiness, and still does. But now as I’m 40 years old I value my relationships much more. I get a lot of fulfillment connecting with my friends, members, and adding value to people’s lives where I can.
