Community Highlights: Meet Abigail Olmeda of El Viento Esthetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abigail Olmeda.

Hi Abigail, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a teen, I dreamed of becoming a chef, but life didn’t make that easy. Constant hardship made staying in school difficult, so I moved into independent studies and started working at McDonald’s. Later, I became a CNA and stayed in that field until I was 21. I kept trying to find my “thing,” but nothing ever lit a fire in me.

Everything shifted when I was pregnant with my first born. I went in for my first Brazilian wax — which was horrible, haha — and then discovered facials. That’s when something in me woke up. I fell in love with the ritual, the calm, the intention behind the touch. I even booked my mom a facial, but her experience was far from nurturing. That moment made me think: I can create a space where people actually feel safe, cared for, and seen.

The people closest to me were the ones quietly guiding me toward self-care. My mother-in-law and my partner constantly reminded me to slow down, to take even a little time out of the day to care for myself — something I wasn’t used to doing. Their love and encouragement introduced me to the idea that caring for yourself is not a luxury, but a necessity.

Then my mom started experiencing facial spasms, and despite both Western and Eastern treatments, nothing fully helped. Watching someone you love be in pain does something to your heart. A big part of my purpose as an esthetician is rooted in wanting to help her find relief, even in small ways, and to help find a moment of comfort.

I started my journey in the garage of the home we were renting — infusing water with herbs, cleansing the space with copal, trusting that intention mattered more than perfection. That tiny garage sanctuary was the seed of what would become El Viento Esthetics.

Today, everything I do is shaped by where I come from: my family, my healing, my hardships, and the deep desire to create a space where others can finally breathe, soften, and feel cared for — the way the people I love taught me to care for myself.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. I know my share of hardship. Instability became a pattern in my life early on ; moving through challenges, setbacks, and moments where everything felt uncertain. But just as consistent as the instability was my ability to keep my head held high and find the silver lining in every mishap. That resilience became a muscle I learned to flex over and over again.

With El Viento Esthetics, the challenges didn’t disappear. Starting over during this tough economy has been one of the biggest struggles. I also took a year-long break after the birth of my second daughter, a time where I had to focus on being a mother, healing, and adjusting to a new chapter in life. Coming back was emotional…equal parts fear and hope but I knew in my heart this work was my calling.
Every setback, every pause, every restart has shaped the way I show up today: with empathy, grounding, and a deep understanding of what it means to rebuild yourself from scratch. Because I know exactly what it feels like to need that kind of escape.

We’ve been impressed with El Viento Esthetics, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
El Viento Esthetics isn’t just a business. i
It’s a healing space shaped by ancestry, intuition, and the belief that the body knows how to return to balance when we give it the right support. I as of recent- collaborate with Levitate 2 Greatness, and together we help the nervous system soften and reset. When you walk in, you step into a different universe. One where the pressure you carry finally has somewhere to go, and your spirit can breathe again.

I specialize in corrective facials and body waxing, but my work goes far beyond technique. I was raised to seek herbal remedies before turning to Western medicine — to trust plants, energy, intuition, and the wisdom passed down through generations. That teaching is the backbone of my practice. Everything I do honors the idea that healing starts from the soul outward.

My approach blends corrective skincare with spiritual grounding:
soul limpias, herbal-infused waters, intentional touch, energy work, and copal for cleansing and protection. I’m proud that my treatments don’t just correct the skin; they calm the spirit and help release emotions stored in the body.

What sets me apart is that El Viento isn’t about rushing or performing. It’s about remembering. Returning. Releasing. I create space for people to feel seen, held, and safe. Something many of us never got growing up. My work honors both science and tradition, both technique and intuition. It’s a merging of everything I was taught, everything I healed through, and everything I now offer forward.

What I want readers to know is this:
El Viento Esthetics is a sanctuary. A place where skin, body, and spirit meet. A place where the nervous system resets, the breath deepens, and the soul is given permission to rest. Whether you come for a wax, a facial, or a limpia, you leave feeling lighter, clearer, and more connected to yourself.

What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, I’m stepping even deeper into my healing journey. For myself and for the generations that come after me. I plan to take an official curandera/curandesma class, something that feels more like reclaiming than learning. I wasn’t able to receive all the teachings my grandmother carried, and that loss has always stayed with me. But my mother continues to guide me in her own ways, and my love for knowledge pushes me to keep expanding, improving, and reconnecting with the ancestral wisdom that was almost lost.

A huge part of my future is also about shifting my family from generational trauma to generational wealth…not just in money, but in peace, opportunity, emotional safety, and self-worth. I want to give my daughters the foundation I never had: a life where their starting point is stability rather than survival, and where they can dream without fear.

Through El Viento Esthetics and Levitate 2 Greatness, I’m excited to keep connecting with beautiful souls who are seeking healing, grounding, and transformation. This next chapter is about deeper community, deeper spirit work, and building a legacy rooted in love, intention, and liberation. For myself, my daughters, and everyone who walks into my space.
