Today we’d like to introduce you to Garvita Sharma.
Hi Garvita, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up moving all around the world. I built my values in India, learned work ethic from New York City, and fell in love with design in Los Angeles.
Working at the country’s top firms, I’ve learned that perseverance, hard work, family, and passion always comes first.
Early on in life, I realized that the time we spend and the memories we build with family was an important part of who I am.
So I started marking those relationships with a jewelry piece I could hold on to forever, even after my loved ones were gone. I can carry a piece of them, remembering the memories and warmth whenever I needed it most.
That’s why I created Vara.
Vara is that mark: a piece that you can hold of generational love, family history, and the quiet beauty of every relationship that shapes us. It’s the feeling of carrying the moments you’ve shared, whenever you need them most.
Recently I got engaged and married, and I designed the rings that mark the beginning of my own happily ever after. Watching my partner slide my dream ring onto my finger felt like every kind of love, past, present, and future, coming full circle in one perfect piece.
Now Vara gets to hold all of it: the love we honor from the generations before us, the love we’re living right now, and the love we’re promising for all the years ahead.
There’s no greater privilege than walking alongside our clients as they mark their own milestones. Building something that holds a lifetime of love, in whatever form it takes, is still the biggest blessing for the entire Vara team.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Laughs – not even a little. I’ve started several businesses, and every single one has had its share of hard lessons. I’ve failed more times than I like to admit, lost money, questioned everything, and had plenty of nights wondering if I should just stop.
But I never did. Each setback taught me something I couldn’t have learned any other way. When you’re at your lowest, you strip away all the noise and see what really matters – and honestly, once you’re down there, what do you have left to lose? From that point on, it’s only uphill. Those moments shaped me more than the wins ever could, and they’re a big part of why Vara feels so resilient today.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the founder of Vara, a fine diamond jewelry company based out of Los Angeles, CA. We design elegant engagement rings and fine jewelry.
Vara was built with the mission to create the highest-quality diamond jewelry for our clients to wear during their most beautiful moments and one day pass down to future generations. Vara, meaning “blessing” in Sanskrit, is a celebration of every family who sees jewelry as a representation of moments, history, and love. That single word is our compass.
What sets Vara apart really comes down to three things that matter to me most.
First, the diamonds: we only use high-carat stones that are VVS clarity and E color or better for engagement rings, each one is GIA-certified—the strictest, most trusted standard in the world. No in-house grading, no surprises.
Second, design: modern yet timeless, fully custom, and everything is designed and crafted right here in the U.S. Clients tell me they finally feel like the piece is truly theirs.
And third, the heart of it all, is how we treat people. When I was shopping for my own wedding ring, I walked into these big, bank-owned stores in the mall and it felt… cold. The service was rushed, they sized you up to see if you’d buy that day, and most of the pieces were made overseas just to cut corners. It felt like a transaction, not a celebration.
That experience showed me exactly what I didn’t want. So with Vara, we built the opposite: a welcoming, patient, no-pressure place where every person who reaches out is treated like family. We take all the time you need, celebrate your story, and pour love into every detail. That’s why clients tell us they don’t just leave with a ring—they leave feeling truly seen and cared for. And honestly, that’s the part we’re proudest of.
What matters most to you?
When I look back on everything life has shown me, the one truth that always rises to the surface is how short and precious it all is.
What matters most to me is loving deeply and living gently. It’s putting my family first and making real time to laugh with them, hold them close, and build a home that nothing can shake. It’s showing up for the people I love—really being there, heart and soul—and treating every single person I meet with kindness, because everyone is carrying something we can’t see.
My faith keeps me soft in a world that can feel hard. It reminds me to stay humble, to lift others up, and to focus on what truly lasts: love, connection, and the quiet ways we make each other feel safe and seen. That’s the life I want to live—and the kind of warmth I want to leave behind.
