Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Huang.
Hi Alex, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I fell in love with magic when I was about 13. My parents bought me a magic set, and after I tried a few tricks on my brother and sister, their reactions completely hooked me. I realized pretty quickly that magic wasn’t just fun — it was helping me come out of my shell and build confidence.
Growing up in the South Bay, I moved around a lot. I attended six different schools before graduating high school, and with both my parents working long hours, it was hard to form steady friendships. Constantly being the new kid made social confidence a challenge, and I had to learn how to adapt fast. That magic set ended up being exactly what I needed. Performing for my parents, siblings, and friends taught me a safe way to connect with people, practice social skills, and slowly build real confidence. Thanks to all my friends and family for putting up with me practicing and performing magic for countless hours, days, weeks, and years, and for the continued support throughout my journey.
By high school, magic became my bridge to making friends and feeling like I belonged. I carried that with me to UC San Diego and later Loyola Law School, where performing continued to help me grow—not just socially, but creatively and professionally. Magic taught me skills in patience, problem-solving, communication, and how to bring something positive into every environment, whether in law, corporate compliance, real estate, or property management.
Today, magic continues to open doors I never could have imagined. I’ve had the privilege of headlining at the Magic Castle in Hollywood and performing for audiences around the world. Some of my closest friendships were formed through this art, and the reactions I see from audiences still remind me why I started. What began with my brother’s and sister’s delight more than 30 years ago has grown into a lifelong passion that continues to inspire me every day.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey hasn’t been without its fair share of difficulties and struggles. Like any discipline we aspire to excel in, magic requires dedication, hard work, and consistent effort. It demands commitment, sacrifice, and a genuine passion for growth. I am continually working to become a stronger magician and performer, always seeking opportunities to learn and refine my skills. Progress comes through practice—making mistakes, learning from them, and using those lessons to move forward with renewed motivation. Mastery takes time, patience, and perseverance, and those qualities are tested often. Ultimately, success comes from staying resilient in the face of adversity and maintaining the determination to keep improving.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have been performing magic for children and adults for more than 30 years. I am a headlining magician at the world-famous Magic Castle in Hollywood, California, and a two-time award nominee by the Academy of Magical Arts. As a seasoned professional, I perform both in-person and virtual shows, offering stage performances as well as strolling, walk-around magic for audiences nationwide and internationally.
My work has taken me to a wide range of venues and organizations, including Google, AT&T, DirecTV, numerous Southern California school districts, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, the Salvation Army, the Society of Women Engineers, Terranea Resort, the South Bay Association of Realtors, AEG Worldwide, House of Cards Nashville, and the YMCA. I have also performed for professional athletes and teams across the NBA, NHL, and NFL.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m always open to opportunities to collaborate—whether with fellow performers, event organizers, nonprofits, or businesses. Anyone interested in working together, booking a performance, or supporting my work is welcome to reach out through any of my social media channels or contact platforms. I look forward to connecting and exploring how we can create something memorable together.
