Hermann Binek is a globally recognized security expert with decades of experience protecting governments, corporations, and high-profile individuals in high-risk environments. With a career spanning elite military, law enforcement, and private security operations, he has successfully prevented three government-level assassination attempts, neutralized kidnapping plots, and designed comprehensive security protocols for some of the world’s most demanding clients.
As the Founder and CEO of Global Protection, they have built an international security consultancy trusted by Fortune 500 companies, entertainment giants, and foreign dignitaries. His work includes 20+ seasons of The Amazing Race (CBS/Paramount), where he established security frameworks across 90+ countries, trained local law enforcement in threat assessment, and ensured the safety of cast and crew in volatile regions. He has also provided executive protection for royalty, including family Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, and averted assassination attempts in Europe and Africa through advanced operational planning and rapid response tactics.
Beyond private security, he has led crisis response teams into conflict zones and disaster areas as Co-Founder and Chairman of Alpha Aid, a nonprofit delivering emergency medical and anti-poaching operations in Southern Africa, Ukraine, and the Philippines. Additionally, as Co-Founder and COO of HR Diagnostics, he develops cutting-edge mobile healthcare safety solutions for corporations and clinical environments.
His expertise spans protective security detail, surveillance, emergency medical response, and cognitive psychology-based threat assessment. He holds an MBA with a focus on business and psychology, along with advanced certifications from FEMA, DHS, WHO, and NATO-affiliated programs in counterterrorism, disaster management, and tactical rescue operations.
A former German Army Mountain Infantry soldier, police officer, and professional boxer, he combines hands-on combat experience with strategic security leadership. his ability to anticipate threats, navigate geopolitical complexities, and implement fail-safe protocols has made him a sought-after advisor for governments, Fortune 500 firms, and A-list entertainers.

My foundation in security was forged in the world of elite combat sports. As an amateur, I boxed in the World Cup, and I later competed as a professional heavyweight boxer. My parallel journey in grappling culminated in a Bronze Medal at the World Championships.

These arenas were my first training in threat assessment, resilience, and performing under extreme pressure. The discipline, strategic thinking, and understanding of conflict I developed there became the bedrock of my approach to personal protection and security operations.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My path was not a straight line, but a series of obstacles that shaped me. I have grappled with the silent, bureaucratic walls of institutions that resist change and where “the way it has always been done” is the greatest enemy of true security. I have experienced the burden of responsibility for traumatic operations, where despite the best planning, variables remain beyond control. The loss of precious lives and pride.
The transition from the clear rules of sport to the morally complex dark side of intelligence and protection work was a challenge in itself, requiring a new kind of discipline.
But each of these hurdles served a purpose. They taught me that resilience is not about avoiding failure, but about learning to get back up with more knowledge. They forced me to be innovative, to build stronger structures, and above all, to trust my instincts.
The obstacles did not block my path; they became the path and created a resilience that no textbook could ever teach. My moral compass, shaped by my parents, has been further deeply anchored by my precious experiences.

The founders of GPS are also heavily involved in the registered US non-profit Alpha Aid. The combination of specialized skills such as emergency medical technicians and special forces is the perfect synergy to help Alpha Aid.
GPS and AA provides resources, training, and support to emergency medical services (EMS) in countries where healthcare systems are under-resourced. Our wildlife is in danger. Rhinos, elephants, and other endangered species are being hunted and slaughtered by organized poaching networks for profit.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I come from a creditable and respectable family in Bavaria, in southern Germany. My father was the successful leader of the Mountain Rescue Service in our hometown and also led the European Rescue Dog Association for many years. He devoted his life to security and rescue, even inventing equipment to improve rescue expeditions around the globe. For his work, he was awarded numerous national and international awards in rescue and EMS.

My mother, Veronika, has always worked on multiple charitable and altruistic causes to help our society.

I grew up immersed in this positively transmitted spirit.

One of my most vivid memories is of my father’s profound experiences, which touched many people and changed their lives.
I remember the grief and terrible tragedies when victims or rescuers did not return alive from a rescue mission. But also the joy when the faces of waiting relatives lit up when they saw their family members stepping out of a helicopter alive.
