Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Jeanette.
Hi Ebony, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am an actress and multi-passionate entrepreneur with deep roots in heavy metal music. As a former music publicist and founder of heavy metal PR boutique, Ebony Jeanette PR (EJPR); I’ve proudly carved my name into the heart of the rock and metal world for over a decade. I’ve lead campaigns for Century Media and Prosthetic Records and landed coverage in publications like Rolling Stone, Billboard, NPR, Revolver, Guitar World and more.
Now I spend my time between Los Angeles, CA and Columbus, OH as a full time creative, focused on acting for film, TV, and commercials. I am represented by Docherty Talent Agency (OH/PA/WV) and training at the Houde School of Acting. I am excited to continue growing as a performer and storyteller.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
While the road isn’t always smooth when you’re creating your own lane, my journey as an entrepreneur and creative has centered on recognizing opportunities and turning them into wins and meaningful lessons for deeper personal growth. Every challenge I have taken on has demanded that I expand my skill set and sharpen my focus, which in turn has strengthened my passion and purpose. Transitioning from music publicity into acting has required me to embrace risk and adapt when challenges arise. I believe there is no better teacher than experience and there is absolutely no reason not to pursue what you truly want to become in this lifetime, even if that means you become multiple “things.” The challenges that have come have been largely about balancing uncertainty with conviction, learning to navigate both rejection and demand, and staying disciplined through the process. Each new challenge carries lessons that ultimately translate into rewards that are both professional and personal.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As mentioned, I began my career in music publicity and founded the LA‑headquartered boutique Ebony Jeanette PR in 2010. I have enjoyed working with major labels and unsigned bands, building and executing press campaigns for artists and brands in heavy metal, hard rock, and alternative music for over a decade. My work as a publicist has appeared in NPR Music, Revolver, Guitar World, Music Connection, and many more. I have also had the honor of sharing my industry experience as a featured speaker at SXSW and The Business of Music Conference presented by Music Industry Quarterly and Urban Network Digital.
Now, as a full‑time creative focused on acting in film, television, and commercial projects, my work remains rooted in my long‑standing commitment to creative expression. I carry the same focus and discipline from my years in music publicity into my work as an actor. I enjoy roles that explore the many layers of the human experience, with particular interest in genres like horror, science fiction, and drama that allow me to expand my range and resonate with my creative foundation.
Overall, my career is about more than titles. It is about expanding my creative abilities, producing work that connects with people, and building a path that reflects my values and vision. Whether I am performing on screen or strategizing behind the scenes, I take pride in creating work that is memorable and impactful. My aim is to continue creating a legacy of work that empowers other girls who look like me to pursue their passions and reflects the full, evolving spectrum of who I am.
What makes you happy?
When I’m not laughing hysterically through a round of “dinosaur run” or playing “dance mode” around the house with my toddler, I’m happiest when traveling the world, creating new experiences and connecting the dots between communities, cultures, and creative ideas. I am most fulfilled when I get to use my gifts to explore new worlds, both inner and outer, and turn those discoveries into experiences that spark dialogue, shift perspectives, and resonate with others.
