Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Grace Massey.
Hi Miranda Grace, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Miranda Grace Massey, and honestly, I’ve known since I could talk that I was going to be an actress and a writer. I grew up in South Florida completely obsessed with movies—like, the kind of kid who would binge behind-the-scenes footage for fun and then put on full musical theatre productions in the living room. I was always writing stories, building worlds, and sketching characters, and before long those stories started turning into actual scripts.
When I was sixteen, I made the leap to Nashville to pursue acting and modeling, bouncing between there and Atlanta as I started carving out my place in the industry. Eventually, that passion (and my love of costumes, character arcs, and a good on-set hustle) pulled me to Los Angeles, where I’ve been all-in on creating the kinds of films and shows I’ve always dreamed about.
I started my own production company, A Showmance, because I wanted a home for the projects I write, direct, and star in—especially bold, comedic, female produced, female written AND female-led stories that feel a little chaotic, a little heartfelt, and very me. My debut web series, Saints All Summer, premiered in Summer 2025 on the A Showmance YouTube Channel. My second series, Halftime High, is currently in post-production, and my third is gearing up for production in early 2026.
It’s been a wild, determined, movie-obsessed journey—and it still feels like the beginning.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I moved to LA right before the pandemic hit, and almost immediately the entire industry shut down. Instead of letting that stall me, I used the time to dive deeper into writing—perfecting scripts, building worlds, developing characters, and crafting the full series arc for my first ever pilot. When things finally reopened, I shot a sizzle reel and started pitching it, but the industry was still in recovery mode and no one was biting. Everything was backed up, everything was delayed, and it felt like everyone was just trying to catch up on what had been put on hold.
Just as things started picking up again for me acting-wise, the SAG strike hit. And suddenly, the industry was at a standstill all over again. After a while, I realized I couldn’t keep waiting for permission to start my career. I wasn’t going to sit around and hope someone handed me an opportunity—I decided to create my own.
That’s when I took the script for Saints All Summer, which originally started as a feature, and transformed it into a series. That decision—and that moment of taking my career into my own hands—was the spark that led to the creation of A Showmance. It came from a place of resilience, creativity, and refusing to let external setbacks define the trajectory of my dreams.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a writer, director, actress, and the founder of A Showmance, a production company dedicated to creating female-led comedies that are bold, funny, ambitious, and completely unfiltered. My work celebrates women who are messy, driven, complicated, and—most importantly—allowed to be funny, wild, and even raunchy without apology. I want young women to see that their voices don’t have to be polished or quiet to belong in this industry—they can take up space, crack the jokes, own the chaos, and create their own worlds.
I’m known for full-scale world-building: character arcs, aesthetics, dynamics, costumes—every detail that makes a story feel alive. That passion started when I was a kid reenacting musicals and writing scripts for fun, and now it fuels everything I create.
At A Showmance, every project is female-written, female-created, and female-led. That’s intentional—I want to reaffirm that women don’t have to wait for permission to build their own lanes. They can write the comedy, star in it, produce it, and make it as loud, heartfelt, messy, or raunchy as they want.
My debut series Saints All Summer brought that vision to life, followed by my second series Halftime High, now in post-production, with more on the way. What I’m most proud of is that I didn’t wait for someone to hand me an opportunity—I made one. That determination to create my own magic, on my own terms, is what sets me apart.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Risk? I’ve gotten pretty good at it—mostly because waiting for “perfect timing” never works. I moved across the country at sixteen to chase acting and writing, and then to LA right before the pandemic hit. The industry shut down, but instead of panicking, I buried myself in writing, world-building, and crafting my first pilot.
When pitches weren’t landing and the SAG strike hit, I stopped waiting and decided to make my own projects. I turned Saints All Summer into a series and launched A Showmance, directing, writing, and starring in it. Putting your work out into the world is scary, but with creation, there’s only reward if you take the risk.
Being a bold, funny young woman in this industry is a risk in itself—but leaning into that voice and making your own opportunities is exactly what makes my work stand out. Risk isn’t about being fearless—it’s about being scared enough to do it anyway.
