Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Hueftle.
Hi Chris, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
From the earliest age, I was always into music. In 1984 when I was 8, I saw Breakin in the theatres. I said to myself that’s what I want to do. I learned a lot of bboy moves by watching and danced all the time but as I grew older I got more into new jack swing dance and forgot a lot of bboy moves. Eventually i was re-inspired to pick up the moves I once knew so I prayed to God to bless me with the ability to help make it all click. In a few months after that prayer, I grew tremendously in dance and in 1995, I became a dj as well. I started out with a cassette player, record player, cd player, disc man – a radio shack mixer and a 50 watt home stereo. I proceeded to emulate the mixes I heard at the under 21 clubs I went to. I had a huge music collection from the years of collecting cassettes and records that my parents would buy for me on the weekend. Speed ahead a few years later, I eventually acquired two Techics 1210 turntables and a 2 channel mixer. I made it a point to buy records every weekend and started DJing any thing I could. I moved to Co and joined a dance troup and eventually started DJing their events and classes. In Co, I djed dance battles and classes at several event centers and clubs as well as at the Denver Center for performing arts, Inverness hotel, Juneteenth in 5 points, Roll a Rama, mtv challenge Denver at the Denver contemporary arts museum, car shows, and I of course djed all other types of events. Now in Cali I have djed red carpet events, at luxurious stores, school dances, bars, Susan g Komen race for a cure .I also have taught a lot people both young and old how to dance and dj and that is my goal is to pass my knowledge and abilities to others to help them carry on the style and also positively affect their life/community.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a learning curve but every struggle has been worth it and fulfilling. I always struggled with worry about what others would think but eventually I stopped living for them and started living more for my family and self!!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a bboy and hip hop style dj who spins soul, Motown, doo wop, funk, disco, house, drum and bass, jazz, oldies, dancehall, house and music from 50s-90s. I quick mix the music and I also engage the crowd and teach them fun moves that can be learned safely.
My heart is in helping others become serious djs and dancers!!
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I am a bboy, popper, locker, house dancer. I love passing all of my knowledge in dancing and djing to who ever takes my class!!
