Today we’d like to introduce you to Lulu Guajardo-Nino.
Lulu, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I actually started The House of Sarah Foundation before I ever picked up a camera. After traveling to Uganda and seeing firsthand the challenges families were facing, I felt called to do something about it. What began as small acts of support turned into a foundation focused on empowering individuals through housing, education, and sustainable programs that create long-term change.
Photography came a little later, but it quickly became another way for me to connect with people. I’m passionate about photography because I feel like I can see the beauty in someone, even the parts they might not notice themselves and bring that out through the lens. My favorite things to shoot are engagements, weddings, and headshots because I love capturing emotion, confidence, and connection in such meaningful moments.
Both my photography and my foundation are rooted in the same purpose: to make people feel seen, valued, and capable of more.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I’m grateful for that. Starting The House of Sarah Foundation came with a lot of challenges, especially figuring out how to build something sustainable from the ground up while balancing life and work back home. There were times I felt overwhelmed, but seeing the impact and the lives changed reminded me why I started.
With photography, it’s been its own journey too, learning to trust my creative eye, finding confidence in my work, and navigating the ups and downs of running a business. But every challenge has taught me something and pushed me to grow in ways I never expected.
I think the biggest lesson has been learning to keep showing up, even when things don’t feel perfect, and to trust that everything is unfolding the way it’s meant to.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a portrait and lifestyle photographer who specializes in engagements, weddings, and headshots. I’m known for creating a calm, comfortable environment that allows people to truly be themselves in front of the camera. My goal is always to capture emotion, the genuine smiles, the in-between moments, and the quiet confidence that makes each person unique.
What sets my work apart is the way I approach connection. I don’t just take photos, I build trust and create space for people to feel seen. I believe everyone has a light that deserves to be captured, and my job is to bring that out through the lens.
Brand wise, I’m most proud of the experience I give my clients. From the initial conversation to the final gallery, I want it to feel personal, intentional, and timeless. My photography is rooted in authenticity and emotion. It’s about telling real stories and preserving meaningful memories that people can look back on and feel.
At the end of the day, I want people to know that my brand is built on heart. Whether it’s a wedding, an engagement session, or a simple portrait, my focus is always on connection and capturing the kind of beauty that goes beyond the surface.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Absolutely. I’ve been really blessed with an incredible support system. My family and friends have always believed in me, even during the moments when I doubted myself. They’ve been my biggest cheerleaders, reminding me to keep going and to stay true to my purpose.
I’m also so grateful for my clients. Every person who’s trusted me to capture their story has played a part in shaping the photographer I am today. Their trust, kind words, and referrals have helped my business grow in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
With The House of Sarah Foundation, I’ve been surrounded by an amazing community in Uganda and back home who continue to inspire me every day. The people we serve are the heart of it all. Their strength and resilience keep me grounded and motivated to keep building and giving back.
None of this would be possible without the people who’ve supported me, believed in me, and allowed me to create and give from the heart.
