Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriela Ochoa.
Hi Gabriela, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story starts as a photographer, I photographed my first event back in 2007 as a senior in high school. I stuck with photography throughout college, working as a portrait photographer in different studios and eventually gaining access to some of the biggest sporting events throughout the US.
I have found myself in the middle of some amazing stadiums photographing the UFC, MLS and NFL events. Shortly after graduating from CSULB in 2016 with a double major, I was introduced into the luxury wedding market. At the time, this position gave me the unique opportunity to learn from the best in the business by becoming their operations manager and eventually learning the ropes on filming, and becoming a cinematographer. From the moment I stepped into my first wedding and started editing, I was hooked. I loved the atmosphere, the creative challenges that come with filming a live event, and the process of editing something that was very personal and will be deeply cherished by the couple. This love for filming grew so big that I wanted to capture weddings under my own brand, and that’s when White Sparrow was born.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I decided to create White Sparrow Weddings at the end of 2019, this chapter began with a lot of optimism that quickly developed into uncertainty as 2020 took shape. As events came to a major halt during this time I was fortunate enough to land a full time job at a local college filming and creating content for their faculty, staff and students.
Even though large group gatherings, especially weddings had come to a halt – I still had a deep confidence that I would eventually find myself back in the wedding industry servicing some of the best wedding that Southern California had to offer. I kept putting my resources into White Sparrow and then one day a bride reached out inquiring about my services, this couple reconnected me back into the realm of luxury weddings I am so proud to be a part of.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a cinematographer that specializes in high end events. I am grateful to be part of a network of dedicated and creative artists who are passionate, and capture some of the sweetest moments in our couples lives.
I am proud to create a film that moves and tells the love story that will be watched and cherished for many generations.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
1. The quality that I feel is most important is my dedication to listen and serve my clients, as well as my team. Without the commitment of my team, White Sparrow will not be where it is today. I want to make sure that my actions show that they are valued, and that I’m willing to support them in the same way they show up for me and all of our couples.
2. My passion for storytelling allows me to always look for innovated ways to develop my craft. It motivates me to give each wedding my full attention, energy, and creativity.
