Daily Inspiration: Meet Fariba Kiani

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fariba Kiani.

Hi Fariba, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a single mom that immigrated when I was 46 years old to US in 2013 with one of my sons just with $300 . I worked 7 days a week and go to cosmetology school at night to 11 pm . I could bring my younger son too and open my own salon since 6 months ago in Glendale city .
I am interested to share my story to show the women specially immigrants that they can catch their dream by own self.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely was not smooth way .
Was too hard because English was second language and pass the cosmetology school was really challenging but I passed with highest degree in whole school history as they told me and choose me as a role model for other students in school and passed my board exam in first try . At the meanwhile I have to support my younger son in my country and spend money for legal actions to bring him next to me. I was working 7 days a week and going school 5 to 11 pm .

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am doing hair and nails since 2015 and still doing besides running my business. That was so hard to open the business because of lack of knowledge about rules policies as an immigrant and my English makes them harder for me and had to work whole week to survive. I am trying to update myself every day . I still work 7 days a week from 10 am to 9/10 pm . I am proud of getting my clients trust . They can feel love and respect in my salon .they say :we fell that we are at home not salon . My passion is having a big family not a big business just for money . I love to do professional work and make the feel special.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The lesson I learned is doesn’t matter how old you are and where you are if you want to achieve your goals you can, it is harder , but have to be strong and patient and don’t let anyone and even dailies problems pushing you away from your goals.
