Meet Zachary Tupaz of Saved by the Barber LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zachary Tupaz.

Hi Zachary, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started working in los angeles when I was 19 years old, I started as a part time barber in the fairfax district, I met a celebrity hairstylist Chris Mcmillan who sent his friend to get a haircut by me his name is Ryno, when I moved to Beverly Hills I had no following, the barbershop owner was unhappy that I left and that business ended up shutting down. I began participating in barber battles networking with the best celebrity groomers in the world, One day I picked up the phone and Jimmy Rich asked me to work for his client who pays handsomely, that client opened doors and inspiration for me since then Jimmy Rich has passed away from a tragic car accident, I drove out to Venice Beach to meet my friend by the tennis courts on my birthday I gave one haircut to a guy on the street because he asked to look like Lil Boosie, my friend is really famous and made a professional video of me to upload on social media, his foundation and products have been a huge part of my skill set, I became to passionate about the art of barbering and cosmetology I got two tattoo’s 1 straight razor and 1 scissor/palmtree to represent where I started the Scissors for the styling side, Palm Trees represent southern california and the straight razor for shaving the best clients in the world and that is Robert Downey Jr.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In 2020 I got an opportunity to access funding for my business, I made a mistake of mixing business and pleasure, my love at the time was not a woman it was actually addiction. At that time I became interested in proving the entire world wrong, that my profession, my resume, my skills were not as great as people advertised or wrote them out to be. I lost everything from the car I was driving was reposessed, the woman I chose turned me down and the location I hosted clients changed property managenent, I had no savings, no game plan, just ambition and a fearless mindset to fail to success, I met a friend that brought me into the gym one day and the owner asked me to exit his facility because I would not participate and since then I’m no longer friends with the people that put me in a position to succeed I failed miserably and let down myself because I was afraid that the work I was doing validated my identity, my ego and my pride, I noticed that when you’re in the spotlight and you create grandiose results you have to continue reproducing greater results and I could not keep up with the jones!

We’ve been impressed with Saved by the Barber LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I began working out of hotel rooms and hotel rooftops, since then I relocated into a traditional barber shop and also offer my services to business owners and people that are disabled and unable to travel so I travel to them. I notice my specialty is not what I can do to make people look or feel good, I genuinely love what I do and give my best to read every single person I get to work with, I have no idea what anyone is thinking about, I have no clue what a person can be seeing or staring at thru their eyes, I have a difficult time listening to people that don’t align with my best interest or have any desire to level up and improve their character and become who they are meant to be in their timeline on this earth. Unfortunately I have had more downs than ups and Branding has been incredible, these days you can see me working with the best of the best in Boxing! I learned the craft thru a mentor his name is THE CHAMP and we live and love boxing unconditionally, the game plan is to build a foundation and build a boxing ring with a barber chair next to it and teach both professional barbering and professional boxing to people that are willing to develop their mind and their re condition their attitudes, working in the salon has been very toxic for me, personally I have to prepare mentally and visualize what the day and what the reactions people are going to give because most of the time I have high end clients who demand the best and everyone once in a while I have to slow down and be grateful for what I have before I start sabotaging everything I worked for, unfortunately in my line of business there are many relationships I don’t get to honor let alone I don’t have the means to bail anybody out because I learned that no matter what happens in life I always have a choice and no means no I also learned that I am a magician I manifest the best results I couldn’t imagine because my circle is very solid and my intentions are to grow and become greater than the brand and the color that I am born with. I do get pressured when I’m not able to be there for my family and I know they wouldn’t be there for me but the good news is that I have found my place and I am validated thanks to boxing.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I’m the youngest of 7, I am different because I’m not afraid to get the help I need, mentally, spiritually, professionally, I didn’t make it in hockey, I didn’t die racing motorcycles, I had a friend that mentioned I am a rebel, I’m the friend that ditches school and then hires them to help me with my homework to get my grades up so I can get my license and all the certificates to be able to work, as a kid I was bullied at home, I was bullied outside and in and out of the principles office, my grandpa served in the United States Navy and that’s how my family had me in the USA, my mother made life harder and my siblings couldn’t stand me, aside from the dysfunctional dynamic, I’ve noticed I had no outlet or support to express my creativity, I had no confidence in myself and what direction my life was going to be and my own ideas limited my abilities to grow. When I got on the internet it was hard to watch, I always felt I had more to offer the world. I always believed in others because I was taught that if they can do it you can do it, I had taken a class with Mike Chat, he pointed out that my mind blocks my ability to perform, after training XMA with Mike I realized my motor skills were undeveloped and there was more to the bigger picture if I was going to perform as a athlete or stunt actor, my dad is not an athletic person he is a chess guy and the mind is as important as the heart I didn’t understand that no matter where you grow up, you are limited to the range and the talent you need to excell thru the world my experience is based solely on isolation it always seemed as though no matter how smart or how popular I am there are no shortcuts in life and no one trick pony’s. I always had the fire and the hustle inside of me it is in my DNA but I learned that I am not the story or the tragedy that I grew up in, this time right here right now I can find ways to give back and help the next person looking to break thru the glass and live their best life.
