Meet Mara Paola Rojas of San Dimas, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mara Paola Rojas.

Hi Mara paola, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my fitness journey at just 16 years old, teaching classes at my mom’s studio. Back then, I didn’t realize how much it would shape my future—I just knew I loved helping people move, feel better, and grow stronger.

A couple of years later, I found myself working at a corporate gym, building my clientele and really discovering my true passion for fitness. I loved the connection I was making with people and how I could play a part in changing their lives through health and movement.

It wasn’t until I met my boyfriend, Kevin, that my love for fitness deepened even more. Through him, I fell in love with bodybuilding, strength training, and corrective exercise. That’s when I knew I wanted to specialize in personal training and truly dedicate myself to this field.

Owning a gym became my dream. In 2017, I set my sights on it, saving every bit I could and pouring all of my energy into making it happen. After years of sacrifice and dedication, I finally opened MPR Fitness in 2019.

At the same time, I was working toward becoming an American citizen—another huge milestone in my life. Both journeys required patience, faith, and resilience, but they taught me that anything is possible with hard work.

MPR Fitness isn’t just a gym—it’s a community. My goal has always been to create a positive space where people feel encouraged, supported, and empowered to take control of their health and fitness.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The truth is… it’s not constant. Some months are fast-paced, full of new faces and incredible energy. Other months are slow, quiet, and heavy. There are moments of pure joy and pride, and there are moments of heartbreak. Times where I question everything, and times where I feel on top of the world.

The hardest part has been the not knowing. The inconsistency. The way things can change in the blink of an eye. But with that, I’ve learned one of the most valuable lessons: adaptability. To keep moving forward. To trust the process. To stay grounded in the belief that what we are building here matters.

Every up and down is part of the journey. And while it hasn’t always been easy, it’s been worth every step—because through it all, I’ve grown stronger, more resilient, and more grateful for the community that stands beside me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At MPR Fitness, I specialize in helping people not only transform their bodies but also build confidence, strength, and a healthier mindset. Fitness has been a part of my life since I was a teenager, and over the years I’ve developed a deep passion for weight training, corrective exercise, and creating sustainable lifestyle changes for my clients.

What I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built inside MPR Fitness. It’s not just a gym—it’s a place where people feel supported, encouraged, and celebrated at every stage of their journey. Whether someone is brand new to fitness, overcoming an injury, or stepping on stage for a bodybuilding competition, we create an environment where they feel seen and guided every step of the way.

What sets me apart is the personal connection I bring to coaching. I know firsthand how much fitness can change someone’s life—mentally and physically—and I pour that passion into everything I do. My focus goes beyond workouts; it’s about helping people move better, feel stronger, and gain the confidence to carry that strength into their everyday lives.

MPR Fitness isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about real, lasting change—and I take pride in guiding people through that journey while making it fun, challenging, and empowering

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My best advice for finding a mentor or networking is to put yourself in the right rooms and be open to learning. For me, mentors have come from simply showing up—whether it was at fitness events, bodybuilding shows, or even just connecting with other trainers who shared the same passion. You never know who’s watching your work or who might be willing to guide you if you just start the conversation.

What’s worked well for me is not being afraid to ask questions and truly listening. People who are successful usually want to share their knowledge, but you have to be willing to humble yourself, soak it in, and apply it. Networking isn’t about collecting contacts—it’s about building real relationships, offering value back, and staying genuine.
