Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Begley.
Hi Crystal, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Besides loving to check out properties with my Pops who would stop at every job sight while we were driving around to ‘watch the workman’ and talk about architecture and styles of builds. Growing up, I saw and experienced firsthand the disparity between those who had knowledge and those who didn’t, and grew up on the side of not being knowledgeable or having access to resources- and in those difficult moments, I promised somehow I would bridge that gap for those around me, others in my community and my family.
My path hasn’t been a straight line. Before real estate, I poured myself into health remedies, therapy, coaching and creative work like music, modeling and even writing lyrics—some of which were used for advertisements and the gaming world—while being deeply invested in raising my seven beautiful children in a modern-momma way. About 15 years ago, I found an interest-calling in real estate. I used label “real estate people” as all mathematical, super sharky or self absorbed people but judging a thing never does anyone any good so I resolved that nothing has to follow the status quo or as it seems; we all have the ability to create the type of business that is grounded in the nature of our own energy and spirit! I sought out opportunities that would give me the experience needed to truly learn from the best and guided by incredible mentors who shared with me decades of wisdom at Lee & Associates & later Moss & Company. Every spare moment I had, after school runs and late-night homework sessions helping my children, I devoted myself to learning what truly makes a property valuable and how to identify the true needs and vision of my clients and carry out all the processes and details with clarity and precision—whether the need was to reposition a property for sale, or stabilized and multifamily building for a long-term hold. Whether my client needed a warm family home or an investment that builds long-term wealth.
For me, real estate is not just about buying or selling houses. It’s about helping people discover opportunities that fit their goals—whether that means purchasing an investment property for cash flow, completing a 1031 exchange, securing a corporate-guaranteed lease, acquiring a rental home or apartment building, or repositioning a family-owned shopping strip for the next generation. It is also about helping individuals or families navigate the unique challenges they have, aka: selling properties out of a trust, or being a liason for tough conversations.
In many cases, absolute discretion is necessary. The best path isn’t always to market or publicly list a property. Sometimes, the right move is a quieter transaction that respects the needs of every family member involved. Every situation requires care, foresight, and sensitivity—not just to complete the transaction, but to position the property in a way that generates long-term income and builds generational wealth.
That’s what makes this work so meaningful: with every client, we uncover something new—a fresh angle, a creative way to market, or a connection that makes the process seamless. For me, real estate is about energy, vision, and soul. I believe in transparency, education, and treating every client like family. This isn’t just a career; it’s a calling–to bridge heart, soul and care with the tangible things- property, money and communication and I feel blessed every day to walk alongside people as they build stability, legacy, and possibility through real estate.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been extreme and at times almost disheartening struggles along the way. Learning an entirely new vocabulary, contracts, processes, and navigating all the vendors, departments and sub-departments involved in analyzing, inspecting, and ensuring a property is right for a client was overwhelming at first. Sometimes its learning to forgive yourself that’s the hardest for whoops moments through the learning curve. Beyond the technical side, there were challenges in working with people who held very different principles than I did. But every challenge has taught me to return to my own heart, my vision, and my core values. By putting my core values forward, staying grounded in integrity, and always going the extra mile to make sure people feel comfortable and cared for, I’ve been able to grow through those struggles and build a circle of trust.
I also remind myself daily that I am building a path not just for myself, but for my seven children and those around them. It’s beautiful to get to learn what makes another person tick and their background, life and motivations, that only expands our understanding! Together, we are learning how to build a life and a business rooted in strength, honor, transparency, and joy. And even with the struggles, I find deep fulfillment and fun in the journey.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Real Estate – COMPASS /Team Elevated LA ?
I am a Real Estate Agent/Advisor with Compass, and I am a team lead /operations director for agents on Team Elevate LA. You can see our website here: www.elevated-la.com.
I feel truly blessed to specialize across the full spectrum of real estate. We offer consultations and strategy sessions. My background spans both residential and commercial investments, which allows me to guide clients whether they’re purchasing or selling a family home, repositioning an asset, or expanding into larger investments.
On the investment side, I consult on everything from listing/selling or buying apartment buildings and shopping centers to warehouses and triple-net properties with corporate tenants—those are properties that have products such as Starbucks or Jiffy Lube where you own the land but also receive a monthly corporate check from the tenant above, they tend to be a steady investment. I also consult on management, drawing from my own hands-on experience managing properties for owners. I love helping clients purchase their luxury home, or sell and reallocate to another property-type, or transition into a new lifestyle through relocation. Our whole team at Elevated LA prides itself on living up to our name—we do our utmost to truly elevate someone’s life and property by understanding their vision and partnering with them to achieve it. We stand by our clients through thick and thin, working to ensure every transaction closes seamlessly, on time, and with as little stress as possible. For us, real estate is not just about property—it’s about people, relationships, and creating a future together.
I also have a private practice consulting business Crystal Clear Consulting, where I coach individuals, small businesses or start-ups! We break down the needs wishes and desires and develop strategies on how to best fulfill them- taking into consideration the big picture- life, business and real estate. Every challenge has a solution.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Hmmm, good question. We are problem solvers. Solution experts and here to take the burden of the details off of our clients shoulders so they can make wiser decisions.
While it’s wise to learn from those who’ve gone before us, the most important thing is to lean into your own strengths and talents. I made the mistake early on of trying to be like others when really my strengths were different—I needed to focus on getting very strong in the technical side of the business so that nothing would ever fall through the cracks & so that I could trust myself to check all the practical and technical boxes, then the rest was based on building a strong rapport with my clients. Real estate isn’t just about contracts and properties, it is about people and establishing trust, listening deeply and truly understanding so we can serve in the best way possible.
Real estate advisors are the thread that ties all the moving parts of a transaction together: title, escrow, lending, insurance, inspections, property conditions, architecture, finishes, appliances, and the unique challenges that come with both new and older homes. The more knowledgeable you become in all these areas, the more of a blessing and support you can be to your clients.
I wish someone told me at the start that this is a long road, and dedication is essential. LOL! There will be ups and downs, but the rewards truly outweigh the struggles if you commit to the journey. And this business requires more than just ambition—you really have to love real estate, love architecture, enjoy design, see attention to details as a must and love helping people. When large sums of money are on the line or when someone is pursuing their dream home, emotions run high. Patience, empathy, and integrity are everything.
My advice? Build a trusted team, always put your client’s needs before your own, and never put money ahead of integrity. Don’t be afraid to walk away from a deal if it doesn’t align with your values or can’t be steered in the right direction. Greed will kill any deal, but groundedness, patience, and heart will carry you through to success.
