Good morning Justina, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
So the moment i wake up, the first thing i do is go to my kitchen, i grab half a lemon and squeeze it in a cup and fill it with water. I like to start my day drinking one cup of lemon water to take care of my gut. Then i do the bible app. I like to start the day by reading the verse of the day. When i’m done i have a little prayer then i do my affirmations and manifestations and say what i’m grateful for. Then i brush my teeth, wash my face and put on gym wear for my morning workout, which is either a morning walk or my workout program for the day. I’m currently following a workout program on the evolve you app. Once thats done i have breakfast, shower and then i’m ready to conquer the day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Justina i’m a British actress and artist. I actually wear many hats. Acting, i would say is my main character, music is the supporting character and then i have other smaller roles that i play, including voice overs, content creating and modelling.
I have a new movie coming out in October 2025 which i’m very excited about. Its called ‘Tribe’ and it will be premiering at the Grimmfest festival in Manchester, England on October 10th. I play the character ‘Heywood’ in this supernatural horror. And i’m so excited to attend the premiere.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
The moment i realised i was talented. I feel like talent is such a powerful gift. You have the ability to make someone feel something, whether that’s through a scene in a movie, TV show or on the stage. Or in a song, dance or some type of movement. Its art and art makes people feel different types of emotions. And having the ability to adapt characters in acting and sing songs that move people is a pretty powerful skill. I remember my first talent show, i must have been like 8 years old, i was standing on the stage. I felt pretty powerful.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering and failing is something we all don’t want to go through. But in my case i feel like it made me so much stronger. I realised how resilient i am and i feel like i wouldn’t be this determined and have this much courage if i didn’t go through some of the things i’ve been through. I feel like life has a way of restoring and renewing you. But only if you get back up and see your suffering as a season and not the final destination.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I started writing at 12 years old and during the pandemic i started my own production company, ‘Justina Productions’. I have been working on 3 projects for the last 5 years and even though its hard, i could never give up on bringing these projects to life. I already know they’re going to be successful. The journey to get there is just long. But its so inspiring because i hear about bigger production companies and how its even taken them years to get out a project. So that makes me feel at peace. Its not a race, its a marathon.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’m definitely doing what i was born to do, my family can attest to that. I grew up with Nigeria parents and if you know Nigerian parents, they want their children to be doctors or lawyers, not actors or singers. I was a very determined kid with a strong head on my shoulders. I knew what i wanted and i didn’t care what anyone else wanted. It didn’t matter. It was my life and i wanted to live it for me. And that’s exactly what i did/i’m doing. Even at school, i didn’t work hard on subjects i didn’t like. But i excelled in the arts. This irritated my parents a little. But when you know you’re called to something, especially at a young age. It makes you become unapologetically yourself.
