Check Out Andrea Munson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Munson.

Andrea, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was the first in my family to graduate from college, earning a broad degree in Communications before beginning my career in advertising and marketing—only to realize that neither truly sparked my passion. I spent the next few years trying on many hats and working in different fields, but nothing felt truly inspiring or motivating. I was floundering, searching for the thing that would really drive me.

Eventually, I took a step back and started to explore my natural abilities and interests, and I noticed a common thread running through the things that lit me up—music, art, design, travel, photography, culinary arts, connection and gathering. All roads seemed to point toward events. Shortly after my 30th birthday, I cold-emailed a luxury destination wedding planner and was given the opportunity to leap into an entirely new profession. That’s where my journey as an event planner, producer, and designer began.

Little did I know that within the next eight years, I would travel the world to produce immersive experiences for luxury clients and their guests—across the U.S., Mexico, Italy, Greece, Portugal, France, Switzerland and beyond. In 2023, I launched my own event planning business, and one of my proudest milestones to date has been designing and producing a multi-day wedding celebration in Puglia, Italy for over 100 guests—an experience that felt like the culmination of years of learning, risk-taking, and following my passions.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Event planning is not for the faint of heart. While the end result may look seamless and glamorous, the reality is long hours, intense responsibility, and often putting your own life on pause to fully immerse yourself in each event. There are countless moving pieces to manage, and as the “maestro” of an orchestra of vendors, venues, clients, and guests, you’re tasked with keeping everything in harmony. And when things don’t go according to plan—as they inevitably do—you have to get creative, pivot quickly, and find solutions on the spot. At the end of the day, everyone’s experience rests in your hands. It’s a high-pressure role, but one that has pushed me to grow, adapt, and work tirelessly to get to where I am today.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I design and produce luxury destination weddings and immersive experiences around the world. My work specializes in creating events that feel both artful and deeply personal—where every detail, from the design to the flow of the day, is intentional and reflective of the people at the center of it.

What I’m most proud of is the way my work brings people together. My goal is always to create an environment where guests feel present, connected, and inspired.

What sets me apart is my holistic approach: I see events not only as beautiful productions but as living, breathing experiences. I draw on my love of travel, design, and storytelling to craft celebrations that are immersive and unforgettable. Clients often say I have a way of balancing creativity with calm—bringing grand visions to life while keeping the process grounded and seamless.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’ve come to see risk as an essential part of growth. Some of the most pivotal moments in my life and career have come from taking leaps, leaning into uncertainty and believing that I will somehow, someway find a way to land on my feet. In these moments, I chose faith over fear. After several years in advertising and marketing, I took what felt like a giant risk: I cold-emailed a destination wedding planner, with no formal background in events, and asked for a chance. That decision completely changed the trajectory of my career.

Since then, every new venture—whether launching my own business or producing events in unfamiliar countries—has carried its own set of risks. But I’ve learned that risk and reward go hand in hand. To me, risk-taking isn’t about recklessness, it’s about trusting yourself enough to step into the unknown, knowing you’ll figure it out along the way.
