Meet Taylor Mosley of Mosley Entertainment Inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Mosley.

Taylor, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The journey starts way back in the 1998/1999 school year, I was a sophomore in high school. I was that athlete that played multiple sports, until one day I wasn’t. I was asked by my friend to sing with him at an event, “In The Still Of The Night” it was love at first note.

From that night on all I wanted to do was work on getting better at everything music. I started with poetry, than adding melody to the words, picking up the piano and taking vocal lessons. I loved everything about it.

For the next 6 years it was singing, writing, performing, recording, etc…

In 2004 I was approached by a fellow employee who just started a weddings/event DJ company, and asked me if I was interested in joining the team as a DJ/MC; without any hesitation I said, “Heck Yes!” From 2004-2009 I worked for that company before moving to California in 2010.

California was the next step in my singer/songwriter journey, with no plans to DJ again. I said, “that was fun, but I’m here for songwriting”. But God had additional plans. From 2010-2016, it was all songwriting projects.; until my beautiful wife; (who had started her own company) brought up the idea for me to start DJ’ing again; but this time start your own company. I was on board immediately.

At the time, my brothers and I just wrapped producing and writing a end credit song for a movie. I was able to take my cut and purchase my first round of DJ gear and I was off to the races.

As for any new business there is the initial launch and growth. I got my feet wet in the California market by working for established companies as I built my brand. About a year and a half into it, I started to make some traction and saw my calendar being filled with very own events.

First and foremost I focused on providing great service and creating an amazing experience for my clients. I have been able to do that by becoming an expert in my field, to instill confidence in my clients. In combination with marketing, promoting my brand and gathering 5 star reviews; the momentum continues.

Fast forward to now, almost 10 years in business I’m blessed to have built a 5 star reputable company; receiving multiple awards for great service given by a prestigious wedding advertising company, The Knot and Wedding Wire.

As of April 2024, I have expanded; taking my company and services to the state of Arizona, with plans to move into Nevada as well.

I’m still singing, writing, recording and releasing music of course. As an artist I release consistently in the EDM genre, which has been very successful for me. To date, my releases have garnered over 300+millions streams.

I’ve also had opportunities through my brother, Joshua Mosley to work on TV/Film projects, such as Netlfix’s “My Dad The Bounty Hunter”, Lionsgate “Bernie The Dolphine” 1 &2 and Tyler Perry’s BET “Sistas.

I’m optimistic about the future and I don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In my opinion it’s never a smooth road, even if it’s not crazy rough; but it’s all part of the journey and that’s ok.

Some of my struggles regarding the singer/songwriter side of things, would be making those long lasting business connection that produce consistent work, getting paid fairly on streams from DSP platforms to name a couple.

Regarding my DJ company some of those struggles are the following: staying competitive in price point every year as cost of living rises, providing attractive package offerings at prices where the majority of clients come in at, to keep that calendar full. Staying consistent with a marketing plan/budget, even when business hits a lull.

Ai is definitely going to be playing a part in the next 5-10 years, just a matter of how you can use it to your advantage without it affecting your role. Weddings are definitely showing a trend that’s moving towards smaller is bigger. Opting in for that private estate venue, keeping the guest count low and not booking a ton of vendors.

Social media of course has already played a huge role in both the music/entertainment and weddings/events, and it’s up to us to embrace the culture to be successful.
