Conversations with Nikkita Bell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikkita Bell.

Hi Nikkita, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember and writing since I was fourteen. In 2013, I began my first novel with nothing more than a silly concept and a big dream to see my printed book on a shelf. After years of perfecting my craft, rewriting countless times, and agonizing over the perfect storyline, I made a bold decision: I scrapped everything and started completely from scratch—this time from the villain’s point of view.
I wanted to create something that defied conventions and societal standards by telling the story of an immortal woman who will stop at nothing to live forever, all while staying true to her skewed moral compass and never apologizing for her flaws. But I didn’t want to stop at just writing. I envisioned creating an entire experience that would bring this story to life through both words and illustrations. That’s when I married my two passions together, coining what I call a “hybrid graphic novel”—a full-length novel with companion comic-style artwork that brings the story to life visually.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The process has been relatively smooth, though the most challenging aspect has been balancing social responsibilities, health, and work-life priorities. I’m someone who goes all-in on my projects—I pour every ounce of energy and talent into them—and sometimes that means other areas of life get neglected. Learning to juggle it all has been both humbling and essential for my growth as an author-illustrator!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m best known for my unique brand of writing “villainous books about villainous women doing villainous things.” I’ve carved out a distinctive niche where literature meets visual storytelling, welcoming readers into narratives filled with morally complex anti-heroines who embrace their darker natures unapologetically.
I specialize in adult dark paranormal and urban fantasy with horror and romantic elements and a gothic neo-noir flair. Each novel becomes an immersive experience featuring dangerous, high-stakes, fast-paced narratives brought to life through captivating illustrations and music-inspired themes. Think Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets heavy metal, but with gorgeous bad girls you can’t help but root for!

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I currently have one book out called ‘The Bombshell Devil’s Advocate,’ a thrilling, high-stakes story about October Winters, the Devil’s right-hand witch, who has six days to deliver him 1,000 souls or forfeit her immortality. Set in Hollywood in 2003, this story has it all: supernatural intrigue, forbidden romance, familiar landmarks, and pure nostalgia. It teeters on the edge of good and evil, allowing readers to experience what it’s like to be the villain without feeling bad about it. The book is also fully illustrated by me!
The sequel, ‘To Hell with Bad Decisions,’ releases December 17, 2025, and follows the events of book one through the eyes of Reagan Valentine, an underpaid, underappreciated demon tasked with corrupting a demon hunter to earn her seat atop the demonic hierarchy and save her broodline.
‘The Hellion Harlot Collection’ is a series featuring various supernatural, morally gray—sometimes morally black—women living in modern society, navigating their dark, dangerous world one perilous task at a time.
