Today we’d like to introduce you to Francine Park, MD & Meghan Jain, MD Ocean Bay Psychiatry.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Ocean Bay Psychiatry began with a conversation between two psychiatrists and friends —Francine Park, MD and Meghan Jain, MD —about the kind of mental health care we wished more people had access to: thoughtful, collaborative, and deeply human. At the time, we were both working in settings where patients were shuffled through the system quickly, and we found ourselves craving a model that allowed for slower, more intentional care.
We met during our training at UCLA and are both double board-certified in child/adolescent and adult psychiatry. Over the years, we’ve treated people in hospitals, clinics, and private practices and kept encountering patients and families who wanted more integrated support. Many were already working with therapists but needed a psychiatrist who would truly collaborate and see the bigger picture, not just prescribe.
Ocean Bay Psychiatry was born out of that need. Our name is partly a nod to the first office we rented, just off the corner of Ocean Avenue and Bay Street in Santa Monica. But it also reflects something larger: a sense of calm, depth, and expansiveness that we hope our practice brings to our patients’ lives.
Today, we specialize in treating anxiety, OCD, ADHD/neurodivergence, trauma-related conditions, and mood disorders across the lifespan. Whether it’s a teenager struggling with perfectionism and school avoidance, or an adult feeling disconnected and overwhelmed, we aim to offer care that feels grounded, relational, and evidence-based. We also work closely with therapists and psychologists to ensure treatment is cohesive and aligned.
We believe healing happens best when people feel seen, not just for their symptoms, but for their stories. That’s what we try to offer at Ocean Bay.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest turning points for us came during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, we were an in-person practice, and like many small clinics, we had to pivot quickly to a virtual model. It required rethinking everything — from appointment logistics to patient communication to how we coordinated care with outside therapists and schools. There was a steep learning curve, but we were committed to maintaining the quality and collaboration that had defined our care from the start. That period pushed us to clarify our systems and our values, and ultimately build a more resilient model of care.
What began as a necessary adjustment has now become one of our greatest strengths. We never imagined providing psychiatric care via telehealth, but it has allowed us to reach more people across California — including those in areas with limited access to mental health providers. It’s also given us a unique window into our patients’ home environments, which can be especially valuable when working with children and families. Most importantly, it’s helped us develop a flexible, relationship-centered practice that can adapt to our patients’ needs without compromising the depth or integrity of care.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Ocean Bay Psychiatry?
Ocean Bay Psychiatry is a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry practice with a warm, integrative approach. We specialize in treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges — but we don’t just focus on symptoms. We’re known for looking at the full picture: development, relationships, family dynamics, sleep, nutrition, and more.
What sets us apart is the way we blend evidence-based psychiatric care with a deep commitment to the whole person. Whether we’re working with a 7-year-old who’s struggling in school or a young adult navigating anxiety and identity, our approach is always personalized, compassionate, and developmentally informed.
We’re especially proud of the trust we’ve built with families. Our clients often tell us they feel truly seen, that we take the time to listen, to explain, and to create a plan that fits their life. We also offer the convenience of telehealth, which has made our services more accessible to busy families without compromising the quality of care.
More than anything, we want people to know that Ocean Bay is a place where you can come as you are. We meet you there — with warmth, clinical expertise, and the belief that healing is possible.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
We find the deepest fulfillment in witnessing meaningful change, whether it’s a child beginning to smile again, a teenager finding their voice, a parent regaining hope, or an adult reconnecting with a part of themselves they thought they had lost. These moments, both big and small, are at the heart of why we do this work.
We’re also continually inspired by the relationships we build — with our patients, with families, and with one another as colleagues. Psychiatry is a deeply human field, and it’s the trust, connection, and growth we’re privileged to witness that bring the greatest sense of purpose.
Outside of our clinical work, we each find joy in different ways. Francine is most energized by thoughtful creation — whether sparked by an evening walk, exploring a new place, experimenting in the kitchen, or working on a knitting project. She especially enjoys sharing insights in a way that makes complex ideas feel accessible and meaningful to others. Meghan is happiest when following her curiosity — whether through reading, travel, or the creative process of interior design. She finds joy in discovering new ways of seeing the world and bringing beauty and intention into everyday spaces.
Together, we often spend time connecting over new ideas, good food, and the ongoing work of inner growth. Those shared moments continue to shape the way we show up — not just as psychiatrists, but as people.
