Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Stacia Deiro.
Hi Dr. Stacia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always considered myself a lifelong learner…I’m known to have a natural, insatiable curiosity. I earned my degrees gradually while balancing work and raising a family; I was driven not just by credentials, but by a deep desire to better understand people, systems, and how to create meaningful change.
Before becoming a licensed psychologist, I worked for years in accounting and operations, helping other professionals grow their businesses. That experience planted the seeds of entrepreneurship and gave me a firsthand appreciation for how powerful structure and strategy can be when guided by purpose.
When I transitioned into private practice, I found deep fulfillment in providing one-on-one therapy. But as the pandemic began, I quickly reached capacity and was having to turn people away… just as the need for mental health care was skyrocketing. That was a turning point. I realized I could do more, so I founded Provia Psychology.
What started as a solo practice has grown into a collaborative group dedicated to making high-quality, culturally responsive mental health care more accessible. I opened my first office in Long Beach and expanded to Newport Beach, California last year. My group practice serves a diverse and dynamic community. Today, I get to lead a team of thoughtful, skilled clinicians who share values of compassion, integrity, and inclusion. Mentoring and hiring therapists has become a natural extension of the clinical work I love, and I’m grateful that every chapter of my life has prepared me for this one.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not even close—and I wouldn’t change that! The most meaningful growth often comes from challenge.
For years, I juggled work, parenting, and graduate school. There were pauses, pivots, and plenty of moments filled with doubt. But I was committed to the long game, even when the path wasn’t linear.
Launching a group practice during the pandemic brought a whole new set of challenges. There was no roadmap for building a mental health business during a global crisis. I was navigating overwhelming demand, shifting telehealth regulations, and the responsibility of supporting both clients and newly hired clinicians. The challenges have shaped not only the kind of practice I’m building, but the kind of leader I’ve become.
Even now, I continue refining how we work; thoughtfully growing a team that’s not only clinically excellent but aligned with our mission.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Provia Psychology, we believe mental health therapy should be high-quality, inclusive, and tailored to the individual. That’s why we’ve made strategic choices: offering specialized services, accepting select insurance plans to expand access, and prioritizing clinical integrity over volume.
Our specialties include therapy that is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive. In addition to typical talk therapy, we also provide special types of therapy like EMDR, sand tray therapy, and play therapy. We serve marginalized communities that include LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and BIPOC folks. We see adults, couples, families, adolescents and children. As a psychologist, I also provide neuropsychological testing for ADHD and Autism.
We’re proud to offer in-person therapy in Long Beach and Newport Beach, as well as telehealth options for anyone living in California. It’s not always easy to build a values-driven business—but it’s worth every step.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
One thing many people don’t know is that I was a teen mom, having my son when I was 17. It’s not something I usually lead with professionally, but it’s a core part of my story. That experience shaped my worldview and instilled in me a deep sense of empathy, resilience, and belief in the power of transformation.
I’m also a curious and creative person outside the therapy room. Whether it’s learning the ukulele, camping, paddle boarding, woodworking, or recently taking up pottery, I’m always exploring. People are often surprised to hear I’m quite introverted. I thrive in quiet moments and nature, and I try to model that balance of connection and introspection for the therapists on our team. Growth isn’t just a professional goal—it’s a personal practice.
