Community Highlights: Meet Carolina Diaz of MBL Beauty Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolina Diaz.

Hi Carolina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
A little over five years ago, I took a lash lift course that also included lash extensions. I immediately fell in love with lash lifts, especially since I had never personally used lash extensions. I hoped that lash lifting would turn into a small side gig—something I enjoyed that could also bring in some income. As I was a new stay at home mom who always worked outside of the home as an employee. I have an extensive background in the medical field.

Ironically, lash extensions became my bread and butter. Hardly anyone booked me for lash lifts. For nearly three years, I offered lash extensions (and a few lifts) from home, until I had the opportunity to attend esthetician school at West Valley Occupational Center in Woodland Hills. Our class was the first to return after COVID-19 closures.

After completing my 600 hours, I passed the licensing exam and officially began my esthetics career—solo from day one. While in school, I discovered a deep love for skincare, and I’m proud to say that my business has naturally shifted more toward skincare and lash lifts, which I absolutely love.

I’ve now been in my cozy office studio for just over three years here in the San Fernando Valley. From the beginning, my long-term goal has always been to become a Registered Nurse. This summer, I can finally say that I’ve completed all the requirements and passed the necessary exams to apply to a nursing program.

Esthetics—and especially nursing in esthetics—was never the original plan, but I truly love helping others feel better. Whether it’s for a moment or an entire day, that’s what I enjoy most: delivering results with integrity and care.

As I prepare to embark on this next chapter, I hope to eventually bring more of a wellness-centered experience to my space—one that blends beauty, skincare, and wellness.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all—but every bump has helped shape the person and professional I am today.

Balancing school, work, and being a mother of six has been one of my biggest challenges. There were times I doubted myself, questioned if I was doing the right thing, or felt completely overwhelmed juggling everything. Starting out solo in the beauty industry without a mentor or a ready-made clientele was intimidating. I had to learn how to market myself, build trust with clients, and grow my business from the ground up.

There were seasons where bookings were slow and still times where I doubt if I should just get a 9-5. And others where I was exhausted from wearing so many hats—esthetician, mom, student, business owner. But through it all, I’ve stayed focused on my long-term goals. I’ve learned that consistency, patience, and staying rooted in why I started is what keeps me moving forward.

Each struggle has taught me resilience, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come. Now, I’m stepping into a new chapter with even more purpose and clarity.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about MBL Beauty Bar ?
MBL Beauty Bar is more than just a place to get skincare or lash services—it’s a space where clients come to feel seen, relaxed, and genuinely cared for. I specialize in result-driven, customized facials, lash lifts, and overall skin wellness tailored to each individual. My clients are often busy moms, professionals, teens, and women who want to invest in self-care without it feeling intimidating or overly clinical.

I’m known for creating a warm, judgment-free environment where people can just be. I take time to educate my clients on their skin, offer personalized treatment plans, and make sure they leave feeling confident and refreshed—not just on the outside, but on the inside too.

What truly sets MBL Beauty Bar apart is the intention behind everything I do. From the moment you walk in, it’s not about rushing through appointments or following trends—it’s about providing high-quality care with integrity, comfort, and attention to detail. I believe in combining both the science of skincare and the soul of service.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how personal and organic my growth has been. I didn’t start with a fancy setup or a huge following—I built this business through word of mouth, consistency, and real relationships. My clients often say they feel at home here, and that means everything to me. As MBL Beauty Bar continues to grow, my goal is to expand into wellness—offering not just skin and lash services, but also a space where healing, beauty, and balance come together. I want readers to know that when you visit me, you’re not just getting a service—you’re receiving care that’s intentional, holistic, and rooted in passion.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always the nurturing one—kind of like the “mom friend” I’ve always enjoyed taking care of others and making people feel good, even in small ways. Whether it was helping a friend with their hair, giving advice, or simply listening, I naturally gravitated toward connection and comfort.

I was also creative and hands-on—I loved anything that involved using my skills to make something, whether it was art, beauty, or even organizing. I wasn’t loud or flashy, but I had a quiet determination and strong intuition that always guided me.

Even as a kid, I was fascinated by the way people feel—emotionally, physically, and even spiritually. I just didn’t have the words for it back then. I now realize that’s part of what drew me to esthetics and eventually nursing. Both allow me to combine care with purpose, creativity with impact.

Now, looking back, I see how much that little version of me still lives in everything I do today.
