Today we’d like to introduce you to Moritz Zeiske.
Hi Moritz, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m from a small town in Germany called Oer-Erkenschwick. Not exactly the kind of place where a lot of people grow up thinking they’ll end up on a film set. I spent most of my time just hanging out with friends, some stupid decisions but all in all a pretty fun time, and not really planning much — just living.
Then Marco Papadopoulos — a German-Greek director — saw something in me. There was no audition. He offered me a role, and I said yes. That one moment opened a door I didn’t even know was there.
I just said yes without really rethinking it.
That first role didn’t make me feel like an actor, but it made me curious — and that curiosity led me to places I never expected. One day I was on set with German counterculture icons, and not long after, I was in Los Angeles, learning the craft and wondering how it all happened. It felt surreal first , but also strangely right.
Now I split my time between Germany and L.A., working on independent films and building characters that actually matter to me. I recently wrote a short with Marco called All Cats Hate Water, which starts shooting early next year. And I’m also part of his next feature film.
I’m not rushing anything. I’d rather move with intention than chase something that doesn’t feel real. I’m just trying to stay open, keep growing, and do work that leaves something behind.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been smooth — more like a weird mix of self-doubt, night buses, and showing up anyway. But I’m on it and it feels great to work for something that could probably have an impact at least for one person . If it feels good I’ma do it and I met so many great people who gave me inspiration all along until now . And some people really helped me out to stay as long as possible and I really do appreciate it. It’s just a first tiny step on a long road and but I’m enjoying the growth.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What I’m most proud of isn’t one project, it’s the fact that I’ve kept going — even when it made no sense to until now. What sets me apart? Maybe it’s that I don’t force anything.
I don’t know it’s hard to explain I’d rather listen sometimes than perform. And I’m not scared of silence. But of course I can be loud too I guess it depends on what they want
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Just try to be nice and honest. Look outside , enjoy a breath of fresh air and watch as many sunsets as possible. Put your phone away and go outside it’s not bad. Just enjoy the moment.
