Meet Vicki Liv of West Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vicki Liv.

Hi Vicki, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Victoria Tryggedsson, and I work as a dancer and performer under the name Vicki Liv.
I am from Denmark, but have been living in LA since the start of 2020. For almost 3 years, I was a manager and ran all daily operation of a tattoo studio here in LA and learned about not only the artist culture here, but also running a business, which I had always dreamed about, but didn’t know when and how. Dreams became true after I randomly in end of 2023 reconnected with a girl who I had met just 6 months prior during a dance intensive. She was opening a dance studio, and she wanted me to be a part of it. With her research ahead and already finding business partners we were able to sign a lease for a place already in the spring of 2024. The amount of growth within our community is incredible, and we just wrapped our very first showcase in mid-July.
While I am still managing the studio part time, I am also pursuing my own dance-performer career which has always been another dream of mine.
I go by Vicki Liv as a performer, and then I have my brand LIV IT UP, which is my production and teaching platform.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Visa is hard coming from Denmark, and I went through a K1 -fiance visa with my now husband. I was 19 and he was 22, when we started the visa process. Being so young both of us, choosing to not go through a lawyer, but handle all paperwork ourselves all when only knowing each other for less than 1 year. Nerve wrecking, but it just felt right. And it was.
I got my traveling documents while being in Denmark on December 23rd 2019. and after 1 year of long distance while filing for my visa, I could finally travel into the US and be with my husband.
Another obstacle was that only 3 months after Covid-19 hit, and all the dance classes that was gonna make me forget about missing Denmark got shut down.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
While I am a performer and an artist, I love creating and producing.
As an artist here in LA it’s hard to separate yourself from everyone around you, but the way that I have found love for the business, organizing and producing side of things has helped me a lot. I always have a new project after the current one, and I am a bit of a workaholic, and I don’t sit down and wait around for the new experience or opportunity.

I’ve learned that if you do passion projects, thing creatively and out of the box, grow all with a smile on your face and the right positive energy, that will also attract the right people onto your path.

The dance studio only became an option because my friend remembered that I kindly and patiently helped her during the dance intensive.

Being kind will 100% make it’s way back to you.
I’m currently in the middle of a bigger project “I will dance to Jessie J, until I get to dance with Jessie J”, and the amount of support and dancers willing to commit training hours with me is incredible.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I hope that people will keep wanting live entertainment with a wide variety of dancers at concerts, festivals, awards, music videos, etc. I am not done dancing and performing on a stage, so I’m just excited for what new adventures awaits.

And in terms of our dance studio FlowMotion Dance studio, I see people longing for community to be active with and I see adults telling themselves that it’s never to late to start dancing. I wish for everyone to find their dance class and community. FlowMotion will have built an even bigger community of dancers, performers and artists, and who knows maybe having a bigger space and/or multiple studios around. Dreams are big and reach far.
