Meet Allison Willett of Juniper Lane Skin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Willett.

Hi Allison, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I discovered the power of skincare when I was 20, but the journey began long before that. Growing up, I struggled with severe acne that left me feeling insecure and constantly searching for solutions. One day, desperate to try something—anything—I booked my first facial. I walked out of that treatment room knowing I had found my calling. I wanted to help others feel confident in their skin, just as I was learning to feel in mine.

The road from that moment to where I am today has been anything but linear. I started in a tiny closet inside a hair salon in Rohnert Park, working with what I had and building trust one client at a time. From there, I moved to Los Angeles, working alongside some of the top dermatologists, absorbing everything I could. My path then led me to England, where I worked with a leading cosmetic surgery clinic, deepening my understanding of skin health from a medical perspective.

Eventually, I found myself in Malibu, bringing back the power of touch and intentional care to an industry that often forgets its roots in human connection. Then came Ojai—and with it, the pandemic, which turned everything upside down. Like many, I lost what I had built overnight. But in that space of uncertainty, I found the courage to start my own business.

Six years later, that leap of faith has grown into a thriving, word-of-mouth practice, rooted in bringing together organic skincare, cutting-edge modalities, and the irreplaceable power of touch. I’ve learned that skincare is never just about the skin—it’s about giving people a place to feel seen, held, and restored. This journey has shaped me into the esthetician I am today, and I am honored to continue helping others feel confident, radiant, and deeply cared for in their skin

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The struggles have been ever-changing throughout this journey. In the beginning, it was about mastering my craft and truly understanding what I bring to the table that’s different from the spa across the street. It took time—and a lot of inner work—to stand firm in what I believe in, even when it wasn’t the easiest path.

One of the biggest challenges has been allowing myself to show up as my authentic, sometimes weird, intuitive self in an industry that often pushes trends over heart. But leaning into who I truly am, and letting that shine through in my work, has been the very thing that’s helped me grow and thrive. It’s taught me that being real, staying curious, and trusting what I know in my hands is what clients feel—and that’s what keeps them coming back.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Get as much experience as you can from the best in the industry before going out on your own. Take the time to learn, refine your craft, and truly understand who you are as a practitioner. When you finally feel ready to “turn the lights on,” trust that timing and go for it.

Once you open your doors, tell everyone what you do—and do it with genuine excitement. That energy resonates with people. When you believe in your work and share it authentically, others will feel it and want to support you.
