Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Geiger.
Hi Diana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Absolutely. My journey with LA DanceFit started in the most unexpected — but deeply life-changing — way. At the time, I had never danced a day in my life. I had young kids who had just started preschool, and while I’d been a dedicated yogi for years, I felt like I needed something new, something that would reignite my energy and joy.
One morning, I glanced at the class schedule at the Sports Club LA in Beverly Hills and saw a Zumba class with Wil at 10 AM. I had no idea what to expect, but I showed up — and that one class completely transformed my life. I left feeling something I had never felt before: pure, uninhibited joy. I thought, “Wait… I can dance?” (I actually couldn’t, but that class made me feel like I could — and that feeling was everything.)
From that moment on, I was hooked. I followed Wil’s classes all over Los Angeles for years — Zumba, hip-hop, anything he taught, I was there. Then, one day, about five years later, Wil casually mentioned he’d love to open his own studio one day. Coming from a business-oriented family and having a background in launching and optimizing businesses, I couldn’t sleep that night. Something clicked.
I literally built out a rough business plan overnight and texted Wil the next morning: “If you’re serious, I’d love to talk.” We got on the phone that same day for hours, aligned immediately, and by the next day we were out scouting locations. That was the beginning of LA DanceFit.
What started as an idea rooted in inspiration and joy has now become West LA’s leading dance fitness studio. We built this place on passion, positivity, and community — and I’m so proud of what we’ve created together.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like any meaningful journey, it’s come with its share of challenges — and the most difficult by far was during COVID. Overnight, we were forced to shut our doors, but the bills didn’t stop coming. We had to make an impossible decision: close, pause, or find a way to keep going. And within 48 hours, we were live streaming classes from the studio — one instructor on camera, two team members handling production, and the rest of us scrambling to hold everything together behind the scenes.
But it wasn’t just about finances. What weighed on me most was our staff — people who rely on the studio for their income — and our students, many of whom depend on LA DanceFit for their mental health and emotional well-being. We weren’t just a place to work out; we were a lifeline for joy and connection during a dark, isolating time. The stress of trying to protect both our team and our community was intense.
What kept us going were the messages we received — students writing to us saying how much they needed this, how LA DanceFit was helping them find hope, motivation, and sanity in the chaos. Those messages reminded us why we do what we do. That kind of connection and impact goes far beyond dancing.
Even now, the financial strain of that time is something we carry with us. But our mindset, our team, and our community remain our biggest sources of strength. We inspire each other every day — to show up, to be better than yesterday, to lead with kindness and creativity. And that’s what makes every challenge worth it.
As you know, we’re big fans of LA Dancefit . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At LA DanceFit, we specialize in high-energy, joy-filled group dance fitness classes that welcome students of all levels — from complete beginners to seasoned dancers. Our offerings range from follow-along cardio dance formats like Zumba and Cardio Hip-Hop to choreography-based classes in styles like Hip Hop, Salsa, Jazz Funk, Heels, Kpop, Burlesque, and more. Whether someone is dancing for the first time or exploring new styles, we create a space where everyone feels seen, empowered, and celebrated.
One of the programs we’re most excited about is our Dance Teams — an 8-week performance journey where students train in their favorite style with their favorite instructor, culminating in a live performance for friends and family. It’s like a grown-up recital that’s all about growth, community, and pushing yourself creatively in a supportive environment.
We also hold magical Beach Classes using silent disco headsets — a tradition born during COVID that’s continued by popular demand. Dancing barefoot on the sand at sunset with music in your ears and the ocean in front of you — it’s something truly unforgettable.
What sets LA DanceFit apart is our vibe: think Zumba energy multiplied by a million. We’re uplifting, judgment-free, inclusive, and built on joy. There’s a deep sense of community here — our classes feel like family, and our studio is a place where people come not just to move, but to feel alive.
What we’re most proud of is the feeling people leave with — joy, confidence, and a reminder that dance is something you can do for life. It’s not a trend or a temporary fitness fix. It’s sustainable, endlessly creative, and something that continues to challenge your body, your mind, and your soul in the best way — every single day.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
As a seasoned business professional, I knew going in that it would take long hours and consistent effort over many years to build something lasting. What I wish more people knew is that success doesn’t come from just one big idea — it’s built through daily dedication. Keeping LA DanceFit at the top of its game has meant constantly evolving: adding new classes, finding inspiring and experienced teachers, fine-tuning our schedule, and continuously bringing in new students. It never stops — and neither do I.
Balancing that with family life, especially raising three young kids, was (and still is) one of the biggest challenges. There were countless nights where I’d put the kids to bed and then stay up working late into the night — refining our schedule, adjusting financials, planning marketing strategies — doing whatever needed to be done to keep things moving forward.
My biggest advice? Let your passion fuel you. For me, it’s dance. Whenever life feels overwhelming, when the to-do list is long and everything feels like a juggle — I step into the studio, take a class, and suddenly everything shifts. Dance grounds me. It fills me with strength, motivation, and purpose. After every class, I always think, this is what keeps me going. That feeling is what inspires me to push forward, be my best self, and uplift those around me.
So whatever your passion is — let it be your anchor. Build with consistency, embrace the hard work, and don’t forget to fill your own cup along the way.
