Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandy Cordon.
Hi Sandy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Sandy Cordon, and I am a chiropractor and functional medicine practitioner with a special focus on women’s health. Together with my husband, Dr. Jordan Cordon, a chiropractor specializing in sports medicine, we are the founders of Vida Holistic Health located in Calabasas, California— a space dedicated to personalized, integrative care.
My journey into healthcare began at a very young age. Since childhood, I always dreamed of becoming a doctor. As an athlete playing competitive volleyball at El Camino Real High School and later at Los Angeles Mission College, I encountered multiple sports injuries that eventually led me to experience chiropractic care firsthand. A significant ACL injury during my college volleyball season became a turning point. Under the care of Dr. Beau Daniels, a sports medicine chiropractor, I not only recovered but was inspired by the powerful impact of holistic care on both physical healing and overall well-being. That experience sparked my passion to pursue chiropractic and help others the way I had been helped. My husband Jordan, who also faced his own sports injury while playing collegiate soccer, was introduced to the same chiropractor, and through his healing journey, was equally inspired to join the profession.
My passion for functional medicine was born out of a deeply personal experience with a close family member who struggled with seizures. Despite extensive medical evaluations, we were given little hope beyond a lifetime of medication. Seeking alternative answers, we turned to holistic and functional medicine practitioners who helped us uncover root causes and natural solutions. Witnessing the transformation and the empowerment that came from this approach fueled my desire to dive deeper into functional medicine and offer that same level of care and hope to others facing complex health challenges.
After earning our undergraduate degrees from California State University Northridge, Jordan and I continued our education together at Southern California University of Health Sciences, where we both earned our chiropractic degrees. From the start, we dreamed of building a practice together — a place where patients feel heard, supported, and empowered in their healing journey. In July 2023, that dream became a reality with the opening of Vida Holistic Health.
Since then, our practice has grown into a vibrant community rooted in trust, compassion, and the belief that true wellness is achieved by addressing the whole person — mind, body, and spirit. Every day, we are grateful to walk alongside our patients as they reclaim their health and embrace the philosophy that Health is Vida.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has certainly had its share of bumps along the way. Starting a business from scratch — with no established reputation, no following, and the natural uncertainty around income — was intimidating at times. We went into this knowing it wouldn’t be easy, and like anything worthwhile, it would require time, patience, and a lot of care to build something lasting. There were sacrifices, especially when it came to personal growth, as much of our focus and energy went into nurturing the business. But through it all, we’ve been incredibly grateful for the support of our families, who have been there every step of the way.
One of the biggest learning experiences has been working so closely with my husband as both life and business partners. It’s brought its own unique challenges, but also incredible growth. We’ve had to learn how to navigate tough conversations, balance personal and professional boundaries, and support one another in new ways. In many ways, it’s made our relationship even stronger. Every time we face a challenge, we’re reminded of the dream we shared years ago — and how fortunate we are to now be living that dream together.
We’ve been impressed with Vida Holistic Health, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Vida Holistic Health, we’ve built a space where modern functional medicine meets the heart of holistic healing. My husband and I are both chiropractors, and together we bring a unique blend of specialties — I focus on women’s health and functional medicine, while my husband specializes in sports medicine and injury recovery. What sets us apart is the integrative, personalized approach we offer — every patient’s journey is seen as deeply individual, and we take the time to get to the root cause of symptoms, rather than just managing them at the surface level.
We combine functional lab testing, biofeedback technology, nutritional therapies, chiropractic care, lifestyle coaching, and evidence-based protocols to create customized wellness plans for each patient. Whether it’s hormonal health, gut healing, fertility, chronic fatigue, or injury recovery — our care bridges both clinical expertise and compassionate, individualized attention.
What I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built. Vida Holistic Health is not just a clinic — it’s a space where patients feel heard, supported, and empowered to reclaim their health. We’ve been intentional in creating a calming, welcoming environment where our patients feel safe to share their full story, and where healing addresses the mind, body, and spirit.
Culturally, we also bring a bilingual, Spanglish touch to our practice, allowing us to serve the diverse community that reflects who we are. I’m proud to blend my professional training with my cultural roots, honoring ancestral wisdom alongside modern medicine. Our tagline, Health is Vida, really captures the heart of our work — health is life, and we’re here to help our patients live fully and vibrantly.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Mentorship has played a huge role in getting me to where I am today. I truly believe that having the right mentors can not only shape your skills as a clinician, but also give you the confidence and guidance needed to navigate the many layers of being both a practitioner and a business owner. My advice is to seek out a mentor who practices in a way that aligns with how you envision serving your future patients — someone who is willing to invest time in teaching you both the clinical side and the business side of running a practice.
Personally, I’ve been fortunate to have great mentors, but they’ve all been male. As grateful as I am for their guidance, I’ve also recognized how valuable it would have been to have a female mentor who could relate to my journey as a woman navigating this profession and balancing both clinical care and entrepreneurship. Because of that, I’ve made it a priority to create a space where women can connect, support one another, and build community. I hope that students and newer practitioners feel comfortable reaching out, because creating that kind of network is something I’m very passionate about. None of us get here alone, and having the right people around you makes all the difference.
