Life & Work with Elizabeth Glazko of Hollywood Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Glazko.

Hi Elizabeth, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Liz. I’m a photographer, retoucher, and visual artist with over 10 years of experience. I studied graphic design in art school and have worked on movie sets and fashion campaigns. I mostly work with models, actors, musicians, and athletes. My photography style is cinematic—I see reality as if it’s a movie shot. In 2019, I came from Eastern Europe to Los Angeles as a tourist, but my plans shifted. I decided to stay in the US to pursue my filmmaking journey and explore directing, a long-time dream of mine. Los Angeles, with its vibrant film culture, provides the perfect backdrop for anyone passionate about the industry. I’m excited to see where this new path will take me!
Outside of photography, I enjoy writing, music, motorsports, boxing, bodybuilding, and skiing.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was a long journey. It took years of relentless work to master my skills and build confidence in my craft. I had to develop my own style and vision—something that only comes with experience. I experimented with various techniques and styles to arrive at what I do today. I learned color grading and retouching and studied studio photography, travel photography, and photojournalism.
Coming to the United States and starting a new life here was another significant challenge. I didn’t know English at first, so I attended a language institute and eventually enrolled in film school to study filmmaking.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I believe the most distinctive aspect of my photography is how I blend it with filmmaking, creating a cinematic feel. As a film enthusiast, the movie industry has profoundly influenced me. There are a few secrets behind the way my work looks:
1. I often use additional lighting to craft dramatic, low-key photographs.
2. I experiment with color filters and colored light sources.
3. My editing and color grading processes are extensive. Sometimes, I even intentionally lower the image quality to give it a retro vibe.
4. I break traditional photography rules to showcase the freedom of creativity.

I collaborate with individuals who are camera-friendly or have recognition and predominantly are from the fashion or entertainment industry. However, I am always in search of hidden gems. People are my greatest inspiration. My goal is to capture individuals’ best qualities in my photographs, making them feel confident and cool.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
