Conversations with Emily Fischer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Fischer.

Hi Emily, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Movement has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember—I started dancing when I was just three years old. That early love of movement eventually led me to yoga, which I discovered more deeply during college while completing my first yoga teacher training in 2018. After graduating college, I started dancing professionally as a Laker Girl, and teaching yoga on the side became a grounding and healing outlet for me.
Dancing professionally brought incredible experiences, but it also came with challenges—particularly around body image and the intense lifestyle. Yoga became a powerful tool in helping me heal my relationship with myself and my body. It gave me a space to reconnect, slow down, and find acceptance in a way I hadn’t before.
After retiring from dance professionally, I transitioned into teaching yoga full-time and committed to deepening my practice through continued education. I’ve completed multiple trainings, including another 200-hour teacher training in Costa Rica with Jonah Kest, a meditation teacher training at The Mindry in Malibu, and a sound bath practitioner training with Natalie Valle in Topanga.
Over the years, I’ve expanded my teaching to more events and private sessions, and my intention has become very clear: to inspire and guide others in cultivating a more loving, accepting relationship with themselves—and with life—just as yoga has done for me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve struggled with a lot of self-doubt over the years, especially during my time as a professional dancer. I dealt with eating disorders, hormonal imbalances, and imposter syndrome—feeling like I wasn’t enough or didn’t belong, even when I was achieving things on the outside.
But in hindsight, it’s those very challenges that have shaped me the most. They pushed me to do the deeper inner work and led me to practices like yoga and meditation, which helped me reconnect with myself and find a sense of balance. I now see those struggles as a vital part of my journey—they’ve made me more empathetic, more grounded, and more passionate about helping others through their own healing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a yoga and Pilates teacher, as well as a sound healing and meditation guide. I teach group yoga classes at The Ritual in Westlake Village and group reformer Pilates at Be Kind Studios in Calabasas. While I love the energy of group classes, my true specialty lies in working one-on-one with clients—whether that’s helping someone rehabilitate a physical injury through yoga / Pilates, or supporting their mental and emotional wellness through sound baths and meditation.
What sets my work apart is the holistic and personalized approach I take with each client. I blend movement, mindfulness, and healing practices in a way that’s tailored to their unique needs. I’m most proud of witnessing real, lasting breakthroughs in my clients’ health—whether it’s reduced pain, better mobility, or a deeper sense of peace and self-connection. Seeing that transformation happen firsthand is the most fulfilling part of what I do.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’m a lover of life and always open to trying new things—lately, I’ve been loving gravel biking! I truly believe that wellness doesn’t have to be just one thing—it’s about finding what you love and doing it often. Whether it’s movement, mindfulness, or adventure, what matters most is that it brings you joy. I also believe we attract the life we desire. When you get clear on what you want, align with your highest self, and take intentional action, anything is possible. My hope is to inspire others to believe in their own power, trust the process, and go after their dreams with an open heart.
