Today we’d like to introduce you to Pavel Kildau.
Hi Pavel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I believe I ended up where I am today because I’ve followed the voice of my heart, and I’ve tried, often not just occasionally but consistently, to look fear in the face and take risks.
And once you take that one risky step, something magical starts to happen. At least I believe in that formula, and I try to remind myself of it every time I feel unsure or afraid to do something.
But really, it all started off in childhood. That’s when I first picked up a camera.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I once watched a Reel on IG. Rowan Atkinson was quoting Charlie Chaplin. He said that life, is a drama in close-up but a comedy in wide shot. And I think sometimes that’s true.
Of course the road hasn’t been smooth. It’s been confusing and unpredictable, like making your way through a jungle. Sometimes it felt like I was gliding on ice, everything just worked fine, like it was meant to be. I believe that when something is truly yours, it moves towards you.
But life sometimes has its own plans, and it wants to teach you something. And those lessons can be painful.
I’m an immigrant. And the life of an immigrant is… hahah you know. You basically have to re-learn how to live. I moved to the U.S. when I was 29, and I could barely order a coffee at Starbucks because my English wasn’t good enough.
So yes it’s been a journey, and a very interesting one.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Kildau Films?
Honestly, I think that’s for the audience to decide. I’m not someone who likes to talk about myself. I believe the work should speak for itself.
Like I said I first picked up a camera when I was seven. It was my grandfather’s, and I’m really grateful for that. Since then, I’ve been creating, filming.
Some people say there’s a fashion touch in my work. Maybe it’s true. Whether it’s fashion, narrative, or something else, that style stays. I’d say I’m passionate about storytelling with a fashion touch.
How do you define success?
Of course, success also means having your basic needs covered, like in that pyramid, I think it’s called …. whatever.
But beyond that, for me, it’s about creating meaningful things, something that can make the world a little kinder and touch people in some way.
And being happy, every moment of my life…
Maybe one day it’s also about building a family. I think that’s part of it too.
