Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Mulvey.
Hi Erin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Northern California, and for as long as I can remember, I’ve been singing. I got my start in musical theater at the age of four, and from that point on, I knew performing was what I was meant to do. After high school I was determined to take the next step and pursue it professionally. it was a tough choice between New York or LA but since LA was closer to home I decided to start there. Since then, I’ve had the chance to appear on a number of TV shows, travel to incredible locations for film projects, and perform at some amazing venues. I’m grateful every day to be making a living doing what I love—performing!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
If anyone says the road to a performer’s life is smooth, they’re lying! It’s a fun path, but it’s not a paved one. I always say the highs in this industry are incredibly high, and the lows can be so low. There are plenty of challenges, juggling multiple part-time jobs, waiting by the phone for news that may or may not come, the part you really wanted going to someone else. The life changing project just out of grasp. Feeling like you’re not in control and waiting for approval to do what you love. It can be emotionally exhausting.
But if performing is truly in your soul, if you were born to tell stories and share your voice, then nothing really stops you. In the hard moments I just know this is who I am and what I want to do. You just have to keep your tools sharp, keep creating and putting yourself out there.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an actress, singer, and producer. Chances are, I’ve popped up on a show you or your mom’s cousin has watched at some point! I’ve been lucky to work on a range of TV projects over the years, perform in some very cool shows and I also sing regularly at a venue in Hollywood. On the production side, I am a producer for Brochet (and sometimes show up in a sketch or two!) Helping bring stories to life from behind the scenes has been an exciting new chapter. I had never thought of producing before and didn’t realize I was actually pretty good at it!
What I’m most proud of is being able to build a life around doing what I love. I realized the past couple years my only “day jobs” were all performing! Also, I got my first soundtrack credit on a movie this past year, that was very exciting!
Whether it’s acting, singing, or producing, I always try to bring authenticity and heart into everything I do.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is resilience. As performers, we’re constantly putting ourselves out there—auditioning, creating, facing rejection—and it can be really tough when it feels like you’re not moving forward. It’s easy to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others who seem further along. All the “what ifs” that can keep you up at night. But you keep going on, you keep creating and sharing, you learn from mistakes, you grow stronger and so does your work.
Also, don’t forget to celebrate the wins! Things move so fast in the industry it’s easy to think, okay I did that but it’s not enough, on to the next! Take that moment to acknowledge your accomplishment.
I’ve learned there’s so much power in community. You’re not alone, and having a support system that lifts each other up through the highs and lows makes all the difference. That’s the heart of it for me: resilience, connection, and staying true to the passion that started it all.
