Check Out Remy Roskin’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Remy Roskin.

Hi Remy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up playing music as a kid – violin in orchestra, flute in band, singing in choir. When I was in middle school I started playing guitar and joined School of Rock. This led to me being in my first original band, Elastic Blur, and discovering that music was something I seriously wanted to peruse. After high school, I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston where I graduated in 2021 with a professional diploma in Performance and Songwriting. This is where I began my original project, REMY. I’ve spent the past 4 years writing, recording, and producing music as well as performing live with my band all across the northeast. This year, we plan to release more music as well as some visual media to accompany the music.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Covid definitely put a wrench in my plans as I was still in school when it happened. Trying to do music school online makes about as much sense as a fish out of water so it wasn’t until things were at least partially back in person that I was able to complete my studies and really start working on my original band project.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What sets us apart from other rock bands is that we’re an all girl sapphic rock band. Our music is grunge, punk, blues, sultry, explicit, and unapologetic. We aren’t afraid to say what we mean and we try to capture that rawness in both our music and our live show.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I’m worried about the increasing popularity of AI in both art and music. I think it strips art of its soul and is being completely misused in the music industry. The beauty of art and music is that it comes from real people and their experiences, feelings, desires, heartbreaks, betrayals, true loves, etc. These are all lost when AI is involved.
