Today we’d like to introduce you to Luke Null.
Hi Luke, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Luke Null began performing comedy the moment he picked up a guitar in Chicago. During his stay in the Windy city he developed his signature musical comedy style, blending witty humor with catchy earworms. This unique approach garnered the attention of Lorne Michaels and earned him the chance to perform as a cast member on Saturday Night live. After a year in New York as a featured player on SNL, Luke moved to LA and is now a regular at the Hollywood Improv. He performs standup comedy at clubs and colleges across the country. In 2024, Luke released a live standup special entitled “Pretty Songs, Dirty Words” through 800 Pound Gorilla Records, now available on YouTube. He recorded it at Dynasty Typewriter and loved every second of it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Of course not. I perform standup comedy with a guitar. This makes me uncool to both comedians AND musicians. It’s a cross I’ve willingly chosen to bear, but I think I’ve carved out a unique little niche for myself.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a standup comedian who performs with a guitar. I was briefly a cast member on Saturday Night Live, which is something I’m known for, I suppose.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Traveling around the country and performing live comedy for cool folks that are trying to have a good time. It’s a bonus that I get to eat the great local food in the various cities I’m doing comedy in.
