Inspiring Conversations with Alena of THE WOMEN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alena.

Hi Alena, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have dedicated eight years of my life to the beauty industry. In Russia, our salon has been successfully operating for eight years, and from the very beginning, we have paid special attention to cleanliness and hygiene. For us, a manicure is not only an art but also a responsibility for the client’s health. We use exclusively disposable materials, and the cleanliness in our salon is comparable to that of a medical facility. After all, a beauty salon is not only a place for transformation but also a space where safety comes first.

When the idea of opening a salon in Los Angeles arose, I did not aim to create just another “Russian manicure salon.” I wanted to offer something more—a concept that unites a community of women with different views and preferences. Developing this idea took over six months, during which I studied the diversity of women in Los Angeles and California as a whole.

Two distinct groups can be identified here. The first group consists of women who, early in the morning, put on a white T-shirt and slightly wrinkled jeans, tie their hair into a ponytail, put on sunglasses, and go about their business. They prefer naturalness: minimal or no makeup, neutral or completely unpainted nails. For them, a well-groomed yet unobtrusive appearance is important.

The second group includes women who carefully select their clothing by color and style, style their hair, apply makeup, and ensure that the color of their lipstick matches the shade of their nails. They enjoy creating thoughtful looks, being bright and noticeable.

Both of these groups are beautiful in their own way. Our concept is based on the idea of being oneself, without striving to conform to societal stereotypes. “WE ARE WHO WE ARE” is our slogan, and the calls to “BE LIGHT!” and “BE BRIGHT!” support our clients in their choices.

In our salon, we support the individuality of each client and share stories of great women who changed the world by staying true to themselves. The walls of our salon are adorned with portraits of these inspiring individuals, accompanied by brief descriptions of their life paths, showing how they followed their calling regardless of public opinion.

Our presence on social media clearly reflects this concept. We sincerely support women in their quest to be themselves and are perfectionists in providing our services, ensuring the highest quality and attention to detail.
